At the end of May I posted about the OGX National Badass Hair Day and some of their products that can be used to achieve some kick butt hair. As I mentioned in that post the products that I received were sent for consideration but all opinions were my own. At the time I thought it was a one off and that would be it. Imagine my surprise when I got home the other day and there was another OGX package sitting on the front porch. I immediately brought it inside to see what awesome goodies were inside but ran into a bit of a pickle when it came to opening the package…
The theme for this package was Summer Essentials and after looking at the different products that were sent I can honestly say that these really are some of OGX’s Summer Essential products.
The first two products in the package were the OGX Weightless Hydration + Coconut Water Shampoo and the OGX Weightless Hydration + Coconut Water Conditioner. These two products combine coconut water, coconut oil, and electrolytes to hydrate parched hair leaving it shiny without any residue. If you’re swimming in any salt or chlorinated bodies of water then your hair is probably going to get a bit dry. These would be perfect to help rehydrate the hair, plus at Ulta you can get them in the full or travel sizes, the latter of which would be perfect for your beach/pool bag!
The next product in the package was the OGX Hydrate & Repair + Argan Oil of Morocco Miracle In-Shower Oil…wow that’s a mouthful. This is a multi-use extra strength oil that can help parched skin and hair become hydrated. If your hair only needs a small boost and you’re already using the previously mentioned shampoo and conditioner then you may want to skip this product. However, if you either have really parched hair or you don’t use the Hydration Shampoo or Conditioner then you should for sure check this out. The ways that the OGX Miracle In-Shower Oil can be used are:
- Pre Shampoo | Once in the shower apply a few drops to dry hair and let steam warm the oil. After a few minutes shampoo as normal.
- Moisture Boost | Add a few drops to shampoo, rubbing between hands to mix oil and shampoo together, and then shampoo as normal.
- Conditioner Boost | Mix conditioner as directed above for the Moisture Boost but apply to root and ends and allow to sit for 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing.
- Leave In | Towel dry, or allow to air dry until slightly damp, and apply a few drops throughout the hair. Style per usual.
- On Body | Apply to dry skin either in or out of the shower and massage well. According to the packaging best results happen when it is applied to damp skin right after the shower.
The next product in the package was the OGX Anti-Gravity + Hydration O2 Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic. When you first see this product you’re going to think “Holy separation Batman!” but rest assured it’s supposed to be like that. The OGX Weightless Oil + Lifting Tonic uses oxygen technology and cloudberry extract to moisturize the hair while giving volume and radiance. Due to this you’ll need to shake well before using but it’s worth it. As it can be used on damp or dry hair, I actually sprayed some of this on my hair right after pulling it out of the box and you could really see a difference! If you plan on just sitting out on the beach and you want your hair to look “Beach Goddess” then you should give your hair a mist with this. Not only will it hydrate your hair while you are sitting in the sun but it’ll make it shiny and voluminous as well!
The next product in the package was the OGX Renewing + Argan Oil of Morocco Voluminous Mousse in Flexible Hold. The OGX Voluminous Mousse combines a whipped mousse texture with argan oil to give hair volume and softness even in humidity with weightlessness. Of course I had to check out the softness and weightlessness because I don’t know about you but mousse isn’t on my “Most Used Products” list because I find that most brands claim those two things and I always wind up with heavy and crunchy hair. The OGX mousse? Totally my new best friend. After using this the first time I’m not using it again…it’s going in my kit for my clients! That’s how much I loved it people. Oh but before we move on I do want to say one thing…a little goes a REAL long way.
The last product in the package was the OGX Moroccan Surf Paste. The OGX Surf Paste uses argan oil, sea salt, and sea kelp to help give texture and control to hair while still providing a matte finish and allowing some separation. Now you know that anything I put on my site gets my 100% honest feedback on it. If I love it I’m going to tell you I love it and if I hate it I’m going to tell you that as well. So I’m going to be 100% honest here as well and tell you that I didn’t even try this. I don’t use texturizing products that often and I certainly don’t use pastes, gels, etc. in my hair as that would require me to wash it more often which, due to my dry scalp, I do not want to do. That being said, I did play around with it a bit as I do intend on placing this in my kit as well. The OGX Surf Paste has a nice scent and a bouncy texture. I can tell from placing a bit in my hand that a little will also go a long way with this product as well. I think this will be a great product for any short haired clients that wonder into my chair.
Overall, I loved all of the products that OGX sent over this time and, I’m not going to lie, I hope they continue to send more. I feel that all the products that were picked for this PR package truly were Summer Essentials. On top of that my kit is growing with amazing quality products and my hair is the best shape it’s almost every been in due these two packages. Now if I could just get a good detangler…
