Pixi recently came out with some new rose products and were nice enough to send some over to me. Two of the new products that came out were the Pixi Rose Caviar Essence and the Pixi Rose Flash Balm. What exactly are these products and should you pick them up? Let’s find out shall we!
Pixi Rose Caviar Essence
Claims: Serum / Essence | Hydrates Skin & Brightens | All Skin Types | AM & PM | Cruelty Free
Size: 1.52 oz.
Price: $24.00
Purchase: Target | Pixi Beauty
Let’s talk about the the Pixi Rose Caviar Essence first as it is a skin care item only and the balm is a 3-in-1 product. The Rose Caviar Essence is marketed as a serum / essence that is supposed to hydrate and brighten the skin. Pixi says that the Rose Caviar Essence can be used by all skin types and during morning and evening skin care routines. The Rose Caviar Essence has concentrated flower oils in it to help it hydrate and brighten the skin and due to the flower oils being suspended in the serum it is supposed to make the product weightless…but does it?
From the swatch you can for sure see that there are bits-and-pieces suspended in the product. The first thing that caught my attention about this product was how wet it was, seriously the swatch on the right side of the hand is after I blended out a smaller dab than what is on the left side for a hot minute and it still looks damp and dewy. This does eventually dry down on the skin but it takes it awhile. If you’re wondering if the skin actually gets all of that moisture with how wet it is and for my skin it did. This was very hydrating and my skin showed it! As for what I asked above, is it actually weightless, and I can say that it is weightless and does not feel heavy on the skin at all. Lastly, there is a bit of a floral scent to the Rose Caviar Essence due to all the floral ingredients but it isn’t horrible and does fade away once absorbed by the skin.

Pixi Rose Flash Balm
Claims: Moisturizer / Primer / Mask | Moisturizes & Brightens | Helps Tired, Lackluster Skin | Oil Free | Cruelty Free
Size: 1.52 oz.
Price: $24.00
Purchase: Target | Pixi Beauty
Now that we’ve talked about the Essence let’s talk about the Pixi Rose Flash Balm. The Rose Flash Balm is marketed as being a moisturizer / primer / mask that is supposed to brighten and moisturize the skin immediately upon applying. The Rose Flash Balm is oil free and therefore able to be used by all skin types. Supposedly this is supposed to be perfect for picking up tired skin instantly! Does it though? Let’s find out.
As you can see from the swatch, the Rose Flash Balm is a white cream product that has a luminosity to it. Once blended out the Rose Flash Balm leaves a bit of a glow to the skin, enough that I would feel comfortable wearing just the Rose Flash Balm for a no-makeup day but you still want the skin looking on point. After applying to my dry / eczema prone skin I can say that for me this doesn’t work as a moisturizer, it just doesn’t provide enough moisture. For someone with normal skin this would be an amazing moisturizer. I also found the cream to be a bit to “primery” for me to be comfortable using it as a facial mask, however, that is just me and you may love it for a mask. Essentially, for me the Rose Flash Balm works best as a primer and a primer only.
Final Thoughts
While they are both products containing rose these are two very different products. One is a very wet serum / essence and the other is a thicker primer / moisturizer. Would I recommend either of them at the $24.00 price point? If you can find them at your Target or are planning on ordering another item to take it above the $25 for free shipping on the Pixi site then heck yeah I would! You get a great amount of product for the price and they do what they are advertised to do. If you’re only going to be purchasing one or the other through Pixi’s site then I would have to say it was up to you to decide if they sound and look good enough to warrant the $4 shipping.

You made a good point about these lasting long. I can’t believe how many uses I’ve gotten from my Pixi Polish and Peel and have a lot left. I’ve started keeping it in my shower even to use it more often and it just keeps going. I’m glad to hear the essence’s fragrance fades.
So it’s not just me on that? I reviewed that last year and I haven’t even hit the halfway point yet so I thought I was just being stingy with it. Which I don’t know why I’m complaining about it when it means you’re getting a lot for your money lol
Those sound amazing. I love Pixi skin care!
I like the essence but I’m still on the fence with the balm. I used it as a mask and wasn’t impressed.
I think the Balm is going to be one of those products that just about anyone can find a use for it but hardly anyone is going to be able to use it for all three of the ways listed. I LOVED it as a primer or just an after skin care product to give my face a glow but I just couldn’t use it as a moisturizer or a mask…but in all honesty I was confused when I read that it could be used as a mask because it just doesn’t feel like a mask product if that makes sense.
I haven’t used many Pixi products, but I love the sound of the essence.
It was great! If you have dry skin you’ll especially love it.
I am very curious about the balm, and think that I might have o pick it up next time I go to Target!
Both products sound lovely! Can’t wait to try them!
