One item that I have been loving in my kit is the professional hair straightener, or flat iron. At this point I believe that I have 5 different flat irons in my kit for different circumstances. The one that I want to discuss with you today is the Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler. (To see the Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler in action check out the above video.)

The Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler is a flat iron that has 1 inch floating ceramic plates that have Diamond Hi-Tech coating. The Diamond Hair Styler also has a long, 360-degree mobile cord, a thumb print area under the LED display, cool tips at the top of the flat iron, buttons that are housed on the inside, 15 second heat/cool timer, 30-minute auto shut off, and auto temperature display. Lastly the Diamond Styler has a temperature range of 250 degrees to 450 degrees.

Are you wondering what all that means? Let’s go through everything step-by-step shall we? Starting with the 1 inch floating ceramic plates with the Diamond Hi-Tech coating. Essentially this means that the metal plates on the inside of the Diamond Hair Styler are 1 inch in size, the more common of sizes in flat irons and perfect for people who have medium length hair. The floating means that these are not firmly fixed to the flat iron which means that as you are passing through the hair or as you are turning the flat iron to get a curl you’re not going to get a crease or line in the hair as fast as you would with non-floating plates. The Diamond Hi-Tech coating means that the said plates are coated with a mix of crushed diamonds and tourmaline, this is going to protect the hair leaving all the natural oils and moisture inside the strand for less damage, more shine, and no frizz.

As for the Diamond Hair Styler features:

• 360-degree mobile cord means that the cord attached to the flat iron will twist and turn as the flat iron twists and turns
• Thumbprint under the LED display is a designated area for you to rest the thumb of the hand holding the flat iron, thus giving more control
• Cool tips at the top of the flat iron give the fingers of your other hand a place to grip as you are either sliding the flat iron down to give a straight style or as you are turning it to give a curled style. This gives more control without the use of a glove or without burning the fingers
• Buttons on the inside mean that you won’t accidentally turn the temperature up, down, or off while you are styling. I have seen all three happen.
• 15 second hot/cool timer means that you can turn the flat iron on, up, or down and the temperature will adjust within 15 seconds. I did not believe this to be true when I read the information packet that came with the Diamond Hair Styler but it is actually that fast!
• 30-minute auto shut off means that if you walk out of the bathroom to fix breakfast, leave for school/work/errands, or just to go watch TV that you won’t either burn out the heat element in your flat iron, it happens, or burn down your house! This feature also works as while I was testing this out during class it cut off after the third or fourth style I tried!
• Auto temperature display is more for people who are either ordering from overseas or who do a lot of traveling. The Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler can be used with a plug adaptor to be useable anywhere in the world. It adjusts it’s temperature display of Celsius or Fahrenheit to the voltage that it’s being supplied with! How cool is that?

Lastly, let’s talk about the temperature range of the 250 degrees to 450 degrees. Watching YouTube videos I’ve noticed that a lot of people will just automatically crank their flat irons up to 350 degrees or higher, or use a flat iron that doesn’t have a temperature control on it. I didn’t have two thoughts about it until I started Cosmetology school and realized the damage that causes to the hair if you don’t know what you’re doing. 250 to 300 degrees is the range that you would want to use for fine or damaged hair. If this seems like a low temperature that’s because it is. Hair that is fine or damaged can easily become even more damaged, brittle, and can even break off while styling. 300 to 350 is around the temperature range you want to stay for medium to normal hair. You want the temperature to be higher so that you don’t have to apply head to many times to the hair, however, you don’t want it to be so high that it “sizzles” when you apply the heat. Lastly, 350 to 450 is the temperature you want to stay at for thicker or coarser hair. These hair types tend to be a bit more resistant to styling tools so a “normal” or “average” heat setting won’t get them straight. Thick and coarse hair is the only time you want your flat iron to be set at 450! The Diamond Hair Styler handled all three of these heat settings amazingly. At the lower temperatures it curled and straightened fine hair, at the medium level temperatures it curled and straightened without having to be turned up higher than the maximum 350 degrees, and at the higher level temperatures hair curled and straightened without the sizzling that happens with one of the other flat irons that I have at at a temperature of 430 degrees.

Overall the Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styler is an excellent flat iron. If I had to only choose one “average” size flat iron to have in my kit the Diamond Hair Styler would for sure be the one that I kept. Not only is this flat iron #KitWorthy I wish that Irresistible Me would make the same hair styler in different plate sizes! If you have the money to purchase a higher level flat iron, this is the one that I suggest that you purchase!
