When I decided to start the #KitWorthy series I knew that one of the main things I wanted to review were ways to clean my makeup brushes, both on the go and deep cleaning. While I do plan on working as a stylist I also plan on working as a freelance makeup artist on brush cleaning is important. I also knew that when it came to deep cleaning that I wanted to review one of the Sigma Gloves, due to the fact that right now my brush collection is pretty small I decided to go with the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove.
To start off with the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove has two sides, a side for face brushes and a side for eye brushes, and each side has three different textured sections; a refine, a wash, and a rinse. Of course I love that each of the sections has a different texture that really helps to do exactly what that section says, but what I really love is that the sections for the face and the eyes are made differently for that type of brush. For example, the face refined section is a set of small textured dots that have a bit of spacing in between them. This section is used for a deeper clean on the face brushes during cleaning.
One thing that I will mention about the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove is that when using the Face Rinse / Wash / Refine side you actually need to turn the top part inside out to get the proper cleaning side and hold. When the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove first came it was turned for the section to be properly held and used and if you don’t realize you have to move things around there’s not a good way of holding the face brush rinse and wash portion. Once aligned properly for the face brush portion the top of the face brush side will look like the picture above.
Speaking of holding the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove, you’ll notice that the only way that it looks like a glove is the upper portion which would make getting a good clean on your brushes next to impossible. What you are supposed to do with the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove is loop your fingers through the bands in the refined section on either side of the glove. I actually really like this because I’m afraid with Sigma’s bigger glove that it would be to big for my hands. With the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove you don’t have to worry about whether your fingers are to long or small as you can tuck and hold as you need to!
As you can see in the picture above, the rinse and wash section for the eyes is drastically different than the face section. This is what I was talking about before when I mentioned that the sections are designed for what would provide the best clean for those brushes. The bigger circles on the face wash section just would not provide a good clean for a smaller eye brush, however, these hashes are perfect for it, and vice-versa!
Overall I was highly pleased with the Sigma Express Cleaning Glove and would recommend it to anyone who has a small brush collection to clean, making this for sure #KitWorthy! As my brush collection grows I plan on upgrading to the Sigma 2X Spa Glove which is good for a medium collection of brushes, and then if necessary to the Sigma Spa Mat.
