As you can see the August Birchbox is a bit late, however, that is because I got mine super late (more on that later). Birchbox costs $10/month for a base subscription but can be upgraded in many ways, for more details on that click here.
The first item in my August Birchbox is The Balm Balm Desert Bronzer in Take a Dip (fair). While Balm Desert looks like a bronzer I’d like and the shade looks like it would work well with my skin tone, the sample is so small it’s hard to get a brush to apply it correctly to find out. The issue with that is with a $21 price tag I really need to know if it’ll work before I just go purchase it.

The second item in my August Birchbox is a nice sized sample of St. Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion. I’ve heard great things about St. Tropez tanning lotions in general so I was super excited to see this in my box!

The third item in my August Birchbox is a can of R + Co Dry Shampoo. When it comes to dry shampoo’s my hair can be a bit of a challenge, I have fine hair that is very hard to style so dry shampoo’s like Batiste don’t work well on it. The R + Co can be added to that list as well. It claims to give a lot of volume, it gave me minimal volume and fell within an hour. On top of that it left my hair looking oily, as in hasn’t been washed in days. So not in love with this product.

The fourth item in my August Birchbox is actually the one that I chose for the sample choice for the month of August, Coola seems to be a brand that is popular with subscription boxes, I seem to get a product from them ALL the time. I do really like that the Coola Makeup Setting Spray has an SPF of 30 and several of the ingredients are geared towards that. I will mention that this does have a bit of a scent so if you don’t like scented products on your face you may want to stay away from this.

The last item in my August Birchbox is a sample size of Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer. I was actually surprised by how much I liked this product. While I don’t see Air Repair permanently replacing my go-to moisturizer I can very well see this being the one I go to when I need a break from the other. It has some great ingredients like Green Tea, Chamomile, Lavender, etc. and really helps to boost the skin.

I mentioned above that I got my Birchbox super late, I got it so late that people had already started posting unboxings of the August box for over a week before I even got the shipping notification for my box, and then it takes over a week to get to me! As someone who paid for the yearly subscription, meaning I paid for a year’s worth of boxes of up front, I find this very upsetting and ticking off. Unlike people who subscribe on a month-by-month basis I can’t unsubscribe when I get several boxes that I don’t like, like this one, instead I have to stick it out. For me to show that kind of loyalty to Birchbox and in return I get my boxes that late, it’s highly unacceptable. It is with a sad heart that I say, when my yearly subscription runs out I will be parting ways with Birchbox. Hopefully my last few boxes will be good ones!
