Guess what everyone…I start school today! That’s right, as you’re reading this my thirty-year-old self is sitting inside of a Cosmetology classroom embarking on the next step in my dream job. With that announcement I also want to announce that a lot more posts geared towards cosmetology and makeup artistry will be coming to the blog and YouTube channel. Everything from vlogs about my cosmetology school experience to what’s in my… posts will be heading your way. Make sure you’re subscribed to both the YouTube and blog so you don’t miss out on any of these fun posts! Today to get things started I’m bringing you a What’s In My Backpack post. I thought this would be a fun way to ease you into some of these newer posts, and for why I didn’t choose a “What’s In My Cosmetology School Kit” make sure to watch the video below as I explain it there (hint: it’ll probably be up next Monday).
Backpack
You can’t start out a “What’s In My Backpack” post without first talking about the backpack itself. I decided to go with a Big Hero Six Backpack. I figured that most of my books and cosmetology supplies were going to be in my actual kit so the backpack was only going to be for notebooks, electronics, and other items so I didn’t really need anything huge. Instead I decided to go with something that I thought was really cute and as I love Baymax this won for me!
Electronics
The two electronics that will be in my Big Hero Six Backpack are an Apple iPad Mini 2 with a Project Red Smart Cover and a Apple Wireless Keyboard. I go into the full details as to why I chose to do this in the video above, however, something I didn’t mention in the video is how awesome this setup really is. If you have the Apple Wireless Keyboard for your iMac or Macbook Dock Setup you need to take a minute and detach it from your computer and pair it to your iPad (or iPod) it will change your life. No lie, I was hoping that this setup would work and when I tested it I fell in love.
Writing Essentials
When I’m not taking notes on the Big Hero Six Backpack are an iPad Mini, some classes may not allow it, I’ll be using the next few items in my Big Hero Six Backpack. For my English class I picked up a Big Hero 6 Notebook and Folder, since this class is my only non-cosmetology course I wanted to keep it’s stuff separate and having a different notebook and binder accomplishes that. Of course I had to keep with the Big Hero Six theme. As for my cosmetology courses, I have four of them if you’re wondering, I’ll be keeping all the paperwork and notes for those classes in the Five Star NoteBinder that I picked up. This thing is super cool, it works like a binder in that you can add/takeout new paper, dividers, and folders as you please but it’s like a notebook in that it’s not hard or rigid so it can be folded back on itself. I totally recommend it to anyone who has to use paper and folders. For those that use loose-leaf paper I completely recommend the Five Star Reinforced Loose-Leaf Paper it’s been one of my favorites for years!
Writing Instruments
I’m not going to go into the full list of items that I have in this section as I cover all of them in above video. I will mention that I did pick up a 10-pack of Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens, I had heard great things about these in the planner community so I picked up a 5 pack before going school supply shopping and loved them…as did Travis. When we were picking out pens for school I gave him my week-old Staedtler 5-Pack and upgraded to the 10-pack.
Miscellaneous Items
Of course I had to have a few miscellaneous items that just didn’t fit into any other category. I’m in love with the binder clips that I found at Hobby Lobby on a washi hunting trip, these clips were the only successful part of that trip I’m saddened to say. I’m also in love with the packaging for the Kotex Pads that I’ll be keeping in my purse. When the Hubs initially thought they were new designs for those flat packs of Kleenex I knew that these were the feminine products that I would be bringing with me.
