I recently had the opportunity to try out the Skin Recovery line from Paula’s Choice. I want to start off by explaining why I’m calling this a “first impression”, I have been trying the products for about a week, however, when it comes to skin care I like to use it for a full month before reviewing it. Within the first week of a new skin care routine I expect a few breakouts as my skin gets use to new products. I allow a bit of additional time to make sure that I don’t have any acne outbreaks or eczema products from the products.

Paula’s Choice offers products for everyone with just about any type of skin issue; dry skin, acne, large pores, aging, and even rosacea. With that in mind before picking the Skin Recovery line I made sure to have a consultation with someone from the Paula’s Choice team. This is a free service that Paula’s Choice offers just by calling 1-800-831-4088 and it only takes about 10 minutes.

Step One

Once I received my Paula’s Choice I eagerly jumped in to see what I got. The first step in my skin care routine for both the morning and the evening is the Skin Recovery Softening Cream Cleanser. To use this I wet my face, apply a small amount to face in small gentle circular motions, and then rinse.

Step Two

After drying my face from the cleanser I move onto the Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner, this is step two in both my morning and evening routine. To use the toner I apply it to a cotton pad/ball, apply to my face and neck, and let absorb. One thing to note about the Skin Recovery Toner is that it is also a creamy toner and not a clear toner like other ones are.

Step Three

Paula's Choice Skin Recovery First Impression Exfoliant #beauty #bbloggers #skincare #PrimpLovesPaula #PaulasChoiceSkinCare #PowerPrimper

The next step in my morning and evening routine is the Skin Perfecting Exfoliant. This exfoliant has 8% AHA gel and glycolic adid and is really used in a way that I haven’t used an exfoliant before. To use the Skin Perfecting Exfoliant I apply a very small amount to my face, making sure to avoid my eye and lip area, and then I do NOT rinse it off. Strange right? But it totally works and is like magic on my skin.

Step Four

After letting the exfoliant absorb into my skin I then follow up with step four in both my morning and evening skin care routine, the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. This serum has a look and consistency of honey and I think it might be as good for my skin as honey. I apply a small of this to my face and let it absorb as well. After this step my skin feels so soft and moisturizer I almost feel that I can skip the moisturizing step but I know that I can’t so I keep going!

Step Five Morning

Paula's Choice Skin Recover First Impression Morning Moisturizer #beauty #bbloggers #skincare #PrimpLovesPaula #PaulasChoiceSkinCare #PowerPrimper

In the mornings after the serum has absorbed I apply a SMALL amount of my Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion which has an SPF of 30. I have found that I’m use to other moisturizers not giving me enough moisture and therefore I go a little heavy on them and I did this the first couple of times I use the Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Big mistake, I looked like Casper until I could get the lotion to absorb fully. Once I figured out the perfect amount for me it worked like a dream. However, I actually mix this with another product before applying but more on that in a moment.

Step Five Evening

During the evening, after the serum has absorbed, I apply, again, a small amount of my Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer. This works exactly the same way that the morning moisturizer works, except that it does not have the SPF that the morning moisturizer has. I also mix this moisturizer with another product before applying.

Step Five Mix In

Paula's Choice Skin Recovery First Impression Oil Booster #beauty #bbloggers #skincare #PrimpLovesPaula #PaulasChoiceSkinCare #PowerPrimper

Now about that the product that I mix in that I keep talking about, the Resist Anti-Agin Oil Booster. This product is GREAT for not only hydrating but smoothing dry skin. I take the little dropper and add a few drops into my moisturizer before mixing it between my fingers and applying to my face. It is absolutely incredible!

Face Mask

The last product that came with the Skin Recovery set was the Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment Mask. This mask can be used two ways; the first way is to use it on clean skin and leave it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing off, the second way of using it is to use it as an overnight mask. So far I’ve only used it as quick mask but I can’t wait to give it a try as an overnight mask!

Pore Treatment

The last item that I received from my Paula’s Choice Skin Consultation was the Resist BHA 9 Treatment. This treatment works to reduce nine key skin issues:

  1. Clogged Pores
  2. Enlarged Pores
  3. White Bumps
  4. Flesh-colored Bumps
  5. Rough Skin
  6. Redness and Irritation
  7. Marks from Past Breakouts
  8. Wrinkles & Fine Lines
  9. Dry, Flaky Skin

I use a small amount of this as the last step in my nightly skin care routine ONLY. It’s actually doing a great job of reducing my pores and declogging them as well!

  10. Like you, I didn’t start wearing makeup until I was an adult. I figured “better late than never”, and when I first started looking into it, I heard a lot about Paula’s Choice. I like that you can call and they’ll help you figure out what to get. I’ve never heard of a creamy toner but it’s intriguing. I’ll be curious to read your final review on the products.
