In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Birchbox team decided to offer two Editor’s Choice boxes, Game Face and Power Pose. However, as an added bonus they also offered the Power Pose Box for sale on their site for $10 for Birchbox subscribers. I, of course, had to get both so I chose the Game Face Box as my actual subscription box and purchased the Power Pose for $10. Since I’m covering both boxes in the same post I’m going to go through both as I normally would as the Power Pose was an option in the Sample Choice for those who didn’t want to purchase it, however, I’m going to cover the Game Face box first as it was my actual October Birchbox.
Before we get into what was in each box let’s recap exactly what Birchbox is and cover an item that was in both boxes. First, Birchbox is a beauty subscription box that sends you 4 – 5 samples for $10/month. Each month you can participate in Sample Choice for no extra charge where you can either choose one of the items in your box, you can get the Editor’s Box, or you can keep your box completely random. For more information on Birchbox, click here. Lastly, both the Game Face and the Power Pose box both came with a Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon attached to a safety pin to wear.
The first item in the Game Face October Birchbox was a bottle of Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. This is supposed to provide lasting hydration while strengthening the skin. What I like about it is that it’s 100% fragrance free! However, it is a bit watery.
Purchase
The second item in the Game Face October Birchbox was a bottle of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. This primer creates a velvet finish that is flawless. I really like that it can be worn alone, is oil-free, and is a decent size sample!
Purchase
The third item in the Game Face October Birchbox was a jar of Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Creme. This creme is supposed to dimish the look of dullness, dehydration, lines, and wrinkles. I will say that it does have a bit of a “skin creme” scent, however, it fades almost immediately. I’m just loving how posh the little jar looks!
Purchase
The fourth item in the Game Face October Birchbox was a bottle of Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. This is a cleanser for combination-skin that balances dry skin and oiliness. What I love is that it has a nice scent and is very creamy!
Purchase
The last item in the Game Face October Birchbox was a tube of Prescriptives False Eyelashes Plush Mascara. This is a conditioning mascara that is supposed to give length and volume without the clumps. I can tell from the scent that this is going to break down quickly and burn my eyes. Pity though because I love the wand!

Game Face October Birchbox Value
Product | My Size | Full Size | Price | Worth |
Clinique Moisturizing Lotion | 15 mL | 125 mL | $26.00 | $3.12 |
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer | 0.25 oz. | 1 oz. | $36.00 | $9.00 |
Estée Lauder Anti-Aging Creme | 0.17 oz. | 1 oz. | $50.00 | $8.50 |

Prescriptives Plush Mascara | 0.09 oz. | 0.35 oz. | $23.00 | $5.91 |
TOTAL | $30.93 |
So that is everything that was in the Game Face October Birchbox. With a value of $30.93 and five Estée Lauder Companies products it was bound to be good wasn’t it? If they were to offer brands of this caliber and boxes of this value on a continuous basis I would rethink canceling my subscription at the end of the year but we’ll have to see. Until then let’s look at what was in the Power Pose Box.
Shop the Game Face Box
The first item in the Power Pose October Birchbox was a Clinique Chubby Stick in Mega Melon. This lip crayon is supposed to be packed with shea butter and mango. All I know is that people claimed that the Neutrogena Lip Crayons are supposed to be a dupe of the Chubby Sticks and while they are some of the better ones on the market they are no where near the Clinique versions.
Purchase
The second item in the Power Pose October Birchbox was a jar of Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief. This cream is supposed to be lightweight and provide around-the-clock hydration. Again I’m loving the little jar but I can’t wait to test this out because I got the overnight from Sephora not to long ago and I can’t wait to compare them!
Purchase
The third item in the Power Pose October Birchbox was a jar of Darphin Stimulskin Plus Multi-Corrective Divine Cream. Darphin is a French brand and this Divine Cream is supposed to soften lines, firm, and brighten. I’m so scared to use it because this sample alone is worth $30!
Purchase
The fourth item in the Power Pose October Birchbox was a bottle of Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II. I’ve heard great things about this particular Estée Lauder product and in such a nice size as well!
Purchase
No your eyes are not deceiving you! The last item in the Power Pose October Birchbox was another small bottle of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer. There’s not much more I can add to this one that I didn’t say above so yeah!
