Would you believe that I’ve been subscribed to Sephora Play for several months now? Don’t go looking for recent unboxings because you won’t find them. For some reason, I do not receive my Sephora Plays until almost the end of the month that they’re for. However, I did want to start covering all my subscription boxes so here is the March Sephora Play unboxing.
About Sephora Play
Sephora Play is a subscription box that is offered by beauty store Sephora. Products are mostly trial size versions of products that you can purchase inside of Sephora. While the products use to come in a reusable cloth bag, they now come in a reusable plastic ziploc bag. Also, the box use to come with a bonus 50 points if you used the code on a card in the box during the month that the box was for. However, I have not seen that card in my last few boxes.
Tarte Primer
The first product in my Sephora Play bag is the Tarte Sea Quench Hydrating Primer. This is supposed to be a hydrating primer that gives the skin amino acids, antioxidants, and probiotics.
GLAMGLOW Moisturizer
The next product in my Sephora Play Bag is the GLAMGLOW GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer. This is supposed to be an illuminating moisturizer that makes the skin look both hydrated and glowing.
Drunk Elephant Moisturizer
The next product in my Sephora Play Bag is the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer with Ceramides. This is supposed to be a moisturizer that provides intense moisturization through six rare African oils.
Stila Eye Liner
The next product in my Sephora Play Bag is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. This is supposed to be a liquid eye liner that while being waterproof and long lasting, is also easy to apply.
Drybar Dry Shampoo
The next product in my Sephora Play Blag is the Drybar Detox Clear Invisible Dry Shampoo. This is supposed to be the invisible version of Drybar’s Detox Shampoo. It is supposed to remove oils and leave the hair feeling clean while being lightweight.
Versace Perfume
The last product in my Sephora Play Bag is the Versace Bright Crystal Perfume. This is supposed to be a sensual and fresh fragrance. It is very floral based with peony, magnolia, and lotus flower mixing with yuzu, pomegranate, musk, and, amber.

Final Thoughts on March Sephora Play
My breakdown for this Sephora Play is that I was excited to receive the Dry Shampoo as I’ve wanted to try Drybar’s Dry Shampoo, the eye liner as the Stila Eye Liner is one of my favorites, and the Tarte primer just to test it out. I’m meh about the GLAMGLOW moisturizer mostly because the full-size is a tub and it doesn’t look like it comes with a spatula of any kind. I’m trying to get on a more hygienic kick with my skin care products, especially since COVID-19, and this just doesn’t cut it for me. As for the Versace perfume, I’m not a fan of scents in subscription boxes for many reasons chief among them that I feel that it’s a cheap way of adding a product to the box. Lastly, the Drunk Elephant moisturizer, I’ve been avoiding Drunk Elephant products because they have such a high price tag ($6.00 value for that little bitty moisturizer!!). I think I’ll go ahead and try this moisturizer mainly because I just ran out of my usual one. All of this matters not because…
Sephora Play Verdict
CANCELLING. I am cancelling my subscription because I no longer want to support a store that supposedly gets most of their part-time employees on the phone for a conference call with only 15 – 30 minutes warning and then fires them. I have applied to Sephora previously and know that they tend to try to only hire part-time employees.

I am very saddened by the way that they treated their employees– particularly in the midst of this pandemic.

Never Say Die Beauty
I cancelled my Sephora Play subscription a couple of years ago. That’s interesting that they now give you a plastic bag instead of cloth. I have the Drunk Elephant moisturizer, and I really love it – but I probably have much drier skin than you do, young’un 😉 I would also like the Tarte hydrating primer. The reason Sephora Play always gives you a fragrance sample is because fragrances are still a big part of their model. I agree, Sephora sucks for firing their part time employees on the phone, but they suck even more for only hiring part-time employees so they don’t have to give them benefits. Ugh. This year, I won’t be making the cut to retain my VIB membership. They truly need to get their act together.

I agree with everything you said in this comment. I actually applied to a Sephora in a mall and a JCPenny Sephora and both of them told me when I interviewed that they wouldn’t hire me because I lived to far away and that they only hire part-time so it wouldn’t be worth my time. I asked how long does it take at part-time before you can move to full-time and they said that only management gets full-time and even then they try to keep them between 35 and 40 hours, even if they work more than that.

I dropped my subscription a long time ago. I found it wasn’t worth even the $10. The extra 50 points could only be used in stores and I do online shopping so I never even earned those. I like the Stila liquid liner and I’d be happy to try the dry shampoo but that’s all with this box.

I agree with you but every once in awhile they draw me in with a box or two that looks good. Then after a box or two I realize why I keep cancelling.
