I recently found out that Sigma was partnering with Bright Pink to release one of their makeup brushes in a special edition pink shade for Breast Cancer Awareness. The brush that was chosen was the Sigma F80 brush and the special edition is available for the month of October and if you purchase the special edition then 20% of the proceeds will be donated to Bright Pink. I’m going to be telling you about the Sigma F80 and comparing it to a few other Sigma brushes to show you the difference in bristles but also to show you the different handles. For more details, just keep scrolling!
Sigma F80 Bristles
First let’s talk about the bristles of the Sigma F80. The bristles are made of Sigmax Fibers which is exclusive to Sigma, obviously from the name, and can be used with liquids, creams, and powders. The Sigmax Fibers are also antibacterial and hypoallergenic which means if you keep them clean they won’t hold germs in like other bristles can. The Sigma F80 fibers are cut to a dense flat surface which is better for buffing foundation into the skin. The flat surface is great for going over flat surfaces of the face in less strokes making for a less streaky appearance. The last thing I want to mention about the bristle area is the ferrule, which is a 3-ring and made with Sigma’s patented SigmaAlloy. The 3-ring and the SigmaAlloy give the area more durability, strength, and help to keep the ferrule tight on the handle and the bristles.
Sigma F80 Handle
The handle of the Sigma F80 is made from sustainable wood and receives 8 coats of paint. The 8 coats of paint on the handle of the Sigma F80 makes it where the brush is scratch resistant.
Sigma F80 Bright Pink Brush
As I mentioned above, the Sigma F80 Bright Pink Brush is available for the month of October and if purchased 20% of the proceeds will be donated to Bright Pink. Bright Pink chooses to focus on the prevention and early detection of breast cancer in people ages 18 to 45. For this collaboration Sigma kept the bristles of the Sigma F80 Bright Pink the same as the original F80 and changed only the color of the handle and not how it is made. Now, there are other pink brushes that Sigma has so let’s address the difference between the original, the Bright Pink, and the other pink colored brushes.
Sigma Brush Comparisons
The three brushes above, from left to right, are the Sigma F82, the Bright Pink Sigma F80, and the Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush. The Sigma F82 has the original black handle and this particular brush has the chrome ferrule. With the original brushes you could choose a chrome or copper ferrule, however, I think they’re currently either about to change to a different finish or phasing out the option of choosing anything other than the chrome. As I mentioned directly above this, the Bright Pink Sigma F80 has a light pink handle color and again has the chrome ferrule (there was no ferrule choice for this brush). Lastly, the Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush has a hot pink handle. While this handle variation can sometimes be purchased in the store, or received as a free give with a certain purchase amount, I actually received this brush in an affiliate package!
Sigma Bristle Comparisons
Again the brushes go from left to right; Sigma F82, the Bright Pink Sigma F80, and the Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush. The bristles of the Sigma F82 are rounded. I feel that this helps to glide around the curves of the face easily. As I mentioned above, the Bright Pink Sigma F80 has flat bristles that help to buff the foundation into larger portions of the face. The Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush has wedged, flat sides with a pointed head. I find that the 3DHD is great for getting around the trickier areas like the nostrils, eyes, mouth, etc. I feel that which one you choose is up to your personal preference and while I prefer the F80 I still use the other two as well.
Final Thoughts on the Sigma F80
Honestly, I feel like you can’t go wrong purchasing this brush this month. The Sigma F80 is a great brush without factoring in the fact that 20% of the proceeds from the sale of the special edition Sigma F80 go to Bright Pink for breast cancer awareness. It’s win-win, you get an amazing brush and you’re donating to breast cancer awareness at the same time!

I’ve never worn makeup in my entire life and just this year, at 36, I started. I love how it can completely change my look based on clothes, mood, etc. Looking forward to giving a new brush a try.

I seriously know nothing about make up brushes and that’s why I appreciate posts like this! My daughter loves make up and I’m sure she’s heard about this brush before. The bristles look really soft. And what better way to help out with breast cancer than by purchasing this brush!

I had no idea there was so much variety in make-up brushes—can you tell I’m not really much of a makeup gal? 😉 I’m considering stepping up my game next year, so this was very educational for the next chapter in my makeup life! hahaha. 🙂
