If you caught my unboxing of the Influenster Make Up For Ever Box then you know that I was recently provided with a tube of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation in R230 and a bottle of the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation in R230. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done the unboxing and I’m now ready to give my full thoughts and opinions on both products. Before we discuss my thoughts I want to tell you how I did the review of these products. I tried both products with and without primer and also with and without prepping the skin. What I mean by prepping the skin is using a heavier duty moisturizer then I what I would typically wear with foundation and using two primers instead of just one all over primer. I also tried each foundation with a makeup sponge, a stippling brush, and a regular foundation style brush. After all of that here are my thoughts on the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundations.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation
Let’s start with the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation comes in a roll-up tube like canister that holds 0.44 oz. of product. There is a small plastic housing over the actual product and then an outer cap over that packaging. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation can be purchased at Sephora for $43.00 and comes in 15 shades, out of those 15 shades only 3 to 5 are deep shades. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation claims to be long-lasting, provide invisible coverage, provide medium to full coverage, have a natural looking finish, be lightweight, and be great for normal to dry skin.
I don’t know if it was just how dry my skin is but none of the claims for the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation were true for me. In all honesty, I found this foundation hard to blend and found that no matter how I prepped my skin it still sunk into my pores and lines. If I spent tons of time, over ten to fifteen minutes, working and tugging on my skin I could eventually get it to blend down and into my skin. However, even after all of that blending I found that not only was the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation not invisible on my skin but that it wasn’t lightweight at ALL. I could actually feel it just sitting on the top of my skin and the finish was just cakey. If you have really dry skin I would skip the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation and for everyone else, I would head to your nearest Sephora and tell them you’d like to have them it apply it for you so you can test it out before spending $43.00 on such little product that may not work!
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation
Moving on to the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation comes in a bottle with a pump, which I was super excited about as I hate pour bottles, that holds 1.01 oz. of product. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation can be purchased at Sephora for $43.00 and comes in 40 shades! Out of those 40 shades I would say that at least 8 – 10 can be considered deep tones. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation also claims to be long lasting, to have invisible coverage, and to be lightweight. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation has a medium to buildable coverage that even when built-up is supposed to still be lightweight. While the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation has the same hyaluronic sphere technology that releases moisture over time, it claims to be able to be used by all skin types.
Initially when I had my thoughts about the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation I thought that I liked it so much due to the fact that I had such a horrible experience with the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation beforehand. However, after taking a break from the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation to go back to other foundations I realized that this was not the case. The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Liquid Foundation blended beautifully with a brush or a makeup sponge but didn’t blend away completely. If you have large pores you’re going to want to use a primer as this will settle into the pores slightly, although it won’t be as noticeable as the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation! I was able to build up the coverage in areas that needed it and the foundation still never felt heavy or cakey. Ultimately I feel that even those with dry skin are going to enjoy this foundation, however, if you’re not sure if you would stop by Sephora and ask for a sample to take home to try!
My final thoughts on the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation are that if you have dry skin or pore issues you’re going to want skip the stick foundation. I think the liquid foundation would be good for most skin types, oily skin might want to prep with a mattifying primer first and powder afterwards, and it feels a lot better than the stick foundation.

Never considered the sanitation issues that stick foundations have. They really wouldn’t make good options for makeup artists, would they?
I have to try that foundation! Foundation sticks are great because they’re so easy to apply, and I’ve heard great things bout Ultra HD.
I keep hearing about Make Up Forever brand of makeup. I have never tried it. I think I would use the liquid kind.
As someone with dry skin who has really been wanting to give a foundation stick a try, I appreciate your honest review. Happy to hear the liquid was a better fit though.
I have never had much luck with stick foundation and think that for the price tag, this one should work a little better than you described. I do have a few large pores, so thank you for the tip on using the primer first for the liquid. I’ll definitely look for the liquid foundation next time I am at Sephora.
I’m not a big fan of stick foundations either. But the liquid foundation sounds good to me, I might try. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! This is very helpful!
I am in the market for new makeup! This looks great!
I have one foundation stick and i adore it. i don’t use it often, but its seriously one of the best thing I’ve ever owned. These have quite the price tag! Probably wont work with my skin since it can be a bit dry.
I am always looking for new make up to try. I will have to pick some of this up for my Daughter as well.
Wow, these products look serious.
I would not mind trying these out!
I never owned foundation from MakeUp forever before. I would love to try it and see how well it blends with my skin!
I love how thorough you are here with the review. I have fine lines so I skip foundation these days. There was a time I loved it though.
I need to find a new foundation. I’m finding that now that I’m a little older, I need more coverage than I used to. Appreciate reading your experience with the Ultra HD.
I’ve used stick foundations before and I’ve never found one that blends well on my skin. As I’ve aged it’s just gotten worse and worse.
I never would of thought of that. I guess it makes sense! lol
I prefer to use a stick foundation. It goes on so much better for me. I have not tried this brand before. It looks like a great fit for me.
Great job Cassie
The pricing is what gets me. I love stick foundation but usually go for the cheaper brands.
Sephora is my favorite store for all things makeup. This looks like a great product!
I have heard of this brand and I definitely want to try it sometime soon. Looks like great products!
I am a huge fan of makeup forever. And I just love this foundation, I’ve got to check it out!
I’ve been liking a lot of the Make Up For Ever products I’ve been trying.
Stop into your local Sephora and ask for a sample of a product you want to try if you don’t want to make a commitment yet.
Sephora is great! Especially for getting samples to try before you buy!
The price for the stick is a bit much in my opinion as well.
Thanks so much!
A lot of people love stick foundations!
I hate that for you but at least I’m not the only one lol
I noticed that for myself as well.
You might try a blurring primer before your Foundation if you ever want to go back to using it.
You should hit up your Sephora and pick up a sample to try!
You should give them a try!
Which one is the one you have? I might need to give it a try!
The liquid foundation is amazing.
I thought so as well!
I need to try out a few more to see if it’s just this one or if it’s all of them.
So far I’ve been really enjoying Make Up For Ever.
The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation was amazing.
