Today we’re taking about the derma e Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask. derma e is a family owned company that has been making skincare products since 1984. Their products are cruelty, paraben, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, petrolatum, and GMO-free they are also 100% vegan. The Charcoal Mask specifically is also gluten-free which is a big one for me.

Ingredients

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Kaolin, Bentonite, Glycerin, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Charcoal Powder, Epilobium Angustifolium (Canadian Willowherb™) Extract, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Menthyl Lactate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

A charcoal mask is generally used to clean and unclog the pores and that is exactly what this mask is designed to do, along with exfoliating. The derma e Charcoal Mask uses activated charcoal to pull out toxins, apricot seed powder to exfoliate gently, marine algae to help skin resiliency and purity, and kaolin/bentonite clays to absorb excess oils. With the Kaolin and Bentonite Clays you’re going to want to be careful using this mask if you have dry skin. If you’ve been around for awhile then you know that I have severely dry skin with eczema, however, my large pores still get clogged and need to be deep cleaned. I loved what the derma e Charcoal Mask did for my skin and pores and I’ll probably keep to the once a week use out of the 1-2 times it suggests.

My only complaint about the derma e Charcoal Mask is the packaging. The mask comes with a seal beneath the cap that you have to remove before using the product. Once I did that it seemed that the product started drying before coming out of the tube. The first time I used it I had to resort to taking off the plastic cap and having someone squeeze the product with extreme force into my hand and dealing with the small bits that would come out at a time. I don’t know if a different kind of packaging would have made this better or if something needs to be added to the product to help it out. When tough packaging is the only complaint I have about a product I think it’s a good one!

Charcoal masks are one of the best cleansing and exfoliating masks out there. But I find them too drying on my face too. I have a combination skin, but I still use it because I love the clean feeling afterwards, I just put on moisturizer on the dry parts.

Charcoal masks are the best. I’ve been really dry lately but I still use my mask about once every three weeks. Derma E is a brand I’ve seen but never given a chance. The price is on point but when you aren’t familiar with the brand sometimes you walk right by. Thanks for this because at least now I know.

You’re totally right about the packaging! Sounds like a great product, but the box and tube is a little blah. Very simple, and while it’s nothing ugly, it doesn’t scream ”beauty product” at me. Perhaps this was the goal? Either way, I’m totally with you on this one. Still, I’d like to try it out!

I’ve never used a charcoal mask before. Is it really made of charcoal? I think charcoal is getting popular with skin care and also with healthy supplements (for digestion). If it’s effective in unclogging the pores, this product is a sure must-try.

I am embarrassed to say that my skin is a hot mess, and I have issues with clogged pours and blackheads. 🙁 Maybe this is something I should use to help me?

I try to use a facial mask at least twice a month. I love clay masks but admit that I have never tried charcoal. This product Derma e Charcoal Mask sounds very interesting. I really appreciate your review and will further into this product to see if this is a fit more me. Thanks for sharing!

I love trying new beauty products and I am glad this worked for you. I have a couple beauty items like eye cream that dry out to. I have to squirt a little out to get to the good stuff. Seems like such a waste.

This looks like a fantastic charcoal mask. I have used one in the past, but I have to be super careful because I have really sensitive skin. This one looks like a possibility though!

Honestly , I have never used a charcoal mask! I have used plenty of masks though. I have found a mask that I would love to try just not sure about it with my skin. Although, the ratings on it are amazing! This sounds really interesting and I might just have to try it! Thank you for sharing!
