I recently received a free Influenster box that had a tube of CoverGirl Plumpify Mascara and a tube of CoverGirl Oh Sugar Lip Balm in Caramel in it. I was sent these two products for free to review with the understanding that my opinions/thoughts on the products would be 100% honest. I decided to stop at my local drugstore and pick-up a few additional products to make this a more in depth review of the CoverGirl Spring 2016 line of products. Make sure to check out the video for more in depth thoughts and swatches!
Starting with the CoverGirl Plumpify Mascara from the CoverGirl Spring 2016 products, I wasn’t thrilled with this product. While it does do what it claims it should; provide volume, life the lashes, and plumpify the lashes, I just don’t think it does it as well as the CoverGirl Clump Crusher Mascara. Plus the wand is just to big and bulky for my tastes.
The Caramel CoverGirl Oh Sugar Lip Balm was the shade that I received from Influenster, to make the review of these products more fair I decided to pick-up shades that I’m more partial to…pinks. I picked-up Taffy and Punch from the CoverGirl Spring 2016 line. I have to say that I love how you can either wear these as a more light or sheer coverage or you can build it up a bit for a deeper coverage. Just know that you’re not going to get an opaqueness similar to a lipstick out these as they are balms. One negative I had about the Oh Sugar Balms is that the color doesn’t last the longest and it can go a bit gritty but reapplication is really easy due to how sheer these are.
While I was at the store I decided to pick-up the CoverGirl Roses TruNaked Eye Shadow Palette and the CoverGirl Nudes TruNaked Eye Shadow Palette, also from the CoverGirl Spring 2016 Collection. These are actually labeled on the package as being “Like a leading $50 eye shadow palette”. I have to say that for the Roses palette this is not the case. The shadows are inconsistent with matte shades that blend away to nothing and dark shades that make an eye look go muddy. The Nudes palette on the other hand is a lot better, it still has matte shades that get lost but the other shades in the palette are quite excellent.
From the products that I have tried I feel that the CoverGirl Spring 2016 collection has some high points and some low points. If you happen to be in the store I would skip the mascara and the Roses palette. If they have shades that you like I would suggest picking up an Oh Sugar Lip Balm. No matter what I think you should pick-up the Nudes palette, especially if you like neutral eye looks!

I have been looking for a good, inexpensive eyeshadow palette to carry with me while I travel. I generally like Covergirl products so I will have to check out these palettes. They have shades that I use a lot.

Your in-depth explanations of blending with each palette was really helpful. I’ll have to consider the Nudes palette if I want to experiment with different blends.

I am absolutely loving all of those eye shadow shades, but I must admit that the only makeup I use on a daily basis is concealer and lip gloss. Maybe I should look into your lipstick picks as well!

Really love the red lipstick! I seem to be seeing more and more women wearing bright red lipstick lately and it looks so beautiful on them.

This brand doesn’t sound too impressive. I like lip balms though (I actually prefer them to lipstick) so I would be tempted to give them a try if I came across them.

This sound like a great mini review for the 2016 Spring Covergirl items. The products I really like are the Covergirl Oh Sugar Lip Balms and I would get all three of these colors. I am a sucker for lipsticks, balms, and glosses. Thanks for the honest opinion.

I absolutely love Cover Girl’s makeup! I especially love their mascara. I’ve tried so many different brands and I always come back to theirs. It’s the best, for the value and the product itself.

I keep trying to explore more colors but I’m a slave to nudes. I’ve used Cover Girl products for many years.

Love the colors on those palettes! Seems like a great alternative to the Urban Decay ones!

So glad I saw this post. I’m in the market for some decent mascara that doesn’t break the bank. I was given some that I am using, but it’s not love. I had another brand that I love the make up, but every single one of the packages for different product broke. I contacted the company and they were less than helpful, so I won’t buy that brand again. While I now know not to get this mascara, I will try the Clump Crusher. Thanks for that. 🙂
