If you remember from my CVS Haul, I purchased the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation when I FINALLY found it in the CVS. My plan was to apply it different ways and see A. how it worked as a foundation and B. how it compared to the CoverGirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation.

To start off with I bought the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation in shade 810 Classic Ivory as this is the shade I usually tend to be in drugstore foundations, and as you know you can’t exactly color match in the drugstore. This actually turned out to be to light of a shade for me so you may want to keep that in mind when you’re purchasing. This also leads me to my first negative about this product, the color selection isn’t the best. The CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation has 7 shades compared to CoverGirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation’s 14. I didn’t mention this in the video because there was only a small display in the store I found the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation in and most of it was sold out, however, getting links for this post I realized how few shades there really were!
As for the actual product, CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation comes in a bottle with a pump, which I really like. Foundations that you have to pour out annoy me because they get all disgusting and I usually windup pouring out way more than I need. The pump dispenses a nice amount when pushed and the actual foundation looks like regular foundation until you blend it and then you can see that it has shimmer in it (you’ll see that in the photos below).

The first day that I wore the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation I decided to do it with just the foundation to see how it wore. It just so happened on that day that we had to make a quick trip to the grocery store so it really got a test out in the South Carolina 90-degree heat…and it didn’t pass. While it didn’t dry out my skin while I was wearing it, it also couldn’t hold up to any kind of pressure. I got out of the car, walked into Kroger, shopped, walked back out to the car, loaded the car (about here was where I could feel it starting to break down), drove to Sam’s Club, got out of the car, walked into Sam’s Club, shopped, walked back out to the car, loaded the car and at this point it was just a hot mess so I’m glad I always keep makeup remover wipes in my purse. It wasn’t like I was doing anything to hectic and I wasn’t outside for a super long time so in heat if you’re going to be doing anything outside you might want to either A. prep the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation or B. go with one you know will hold up!
The next time I wore the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation I decided to try it with some prep. I primed my skin with a good non-luminous primer, this foundation has a good bit of shimmer so if you don’t want to look like a disco ball I would suggest keeping other shimmer products to a minimum, before applying the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation. After letting it absorb a bit I dusted with a small amount of setting powder, the whole point is to look luminous so I didn’t want to lose that I just wanted to keep the fountain from transferring like to my phone, and then sprayed with a makeup setting spray. THIS made the foundation awesome. We again had to run several errands, I was out in the heat for longer, I did a lot more things and the foundation never budged! From now on this will be how I wear the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation.
Final Thoughts
While the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation is a pretty good foundation, it won’t be replacing any of the others I have anytime soon. The CoverGirl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation is far superior, in my opinion, and if I want it to have a luminous look I’ll just use my Nar’s Primer (review coming soon) under it. I will keep the CoverGirl Stay Luminous Foundation around for when I want a quick luminous look but I just don’t see it being an all the time foundation.
