If you saw my post last month then you know that the Literary Junkies Link Party is back! For those that don’t know Literary Junkies is a link party that happens the last Tuesday of every month and is hosted by Taylor from Pink Heels Pink Truck and Christine from Life with a Side of Coffee.

What are you reading right now? Tell us about it.

Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee #literary #literaryjunkies #linkparty #books #bookclub

Currently I’m reading Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. For those who don’t know, this is the sequel to the 1960’s To Kill a Mockingbird (that we’ve probably all read while in middle/high school). For those who don’t remember, To Kill a Mockingbird takes place from 1933 to 1935 when Scout is six-years-old. Go Set a Watchman is set twenty-years later and Scout is now called by her given name, Jean Louise. To go along with a new name Jean Louise also has new truths and feelings to confront while back home. I haven’t gotten to far into the book but so far I’m enjoying it.

What book reminds you of summertime as a kid?

The Baby-Sitter's Club by Ann M. Martin #literary #literaryjunkies #linkparty #books #bookclub

When I think about reading during the summer as a kid, I always flashback to the summer of the mid-to-late 90’s when I was in love with The Baby-Sitters Club. I could get through them fairly quickly so I read tons of them during the summers, even going back and rereading several of them in later years. The The Baby-Sitters Club and Fear Street series bring back so many memories.

What book did you have on your summer reading list that truly nailed it as a summer reading favorite?

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty #literary #literaryjunkies #linkparty #books #bookclub

One of the things that I had on my summer reading list as Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. This book was ON POINT the entire time I was reading it. You start out the book knowing that someone has died but you don’t know who or how. By about the fifth or sixth chapter I was for sure I knew who it was and by about halfway I was for sure I knew who the killer was going to be. I have to say that I did NOT see that ending coming. No way shape or form. All Big Little Lies did was make me want to read even more by Liane Moriarty.

Who is your favorite author and why? Give us your top recommendation by them.

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult #literary #literaryjunkies #linkparty #books #bookclub

If I’m honest my favorite author can change by what mood I’m in. Currently I’m loving, besides Liane Moriarty, Jodi Picoult. My favorite book by Jodi Picoult would have to be The Storyteller. That book is amazing and the twist, like that of Big Little Lies, I totally didn’t see coming. Jodi Picoult can not only write a great book that gets you right in the feels but she can also write a book that keeps you guessing.

Fall Book Reading lists are starting to make their appearances. What are you excited to read that’s being released this fall?

The Murder House by James Patterson #literary #literaryjunkies #linkparty #books #bookclub

One of the books that I’m excited for that’s coming out this Fall is the new Nicholas Sparks book, See Me, but there hasn’t been a cover released for that (he needs to hurry up!) so I had to go with my second choice. The next book that I’m excited for this Fall is James Patterson’s The Murder House. I’ve always liked a good Patterson book but ever since I saw him on Castle I’ve started liking his stuff just a bit more.

So those are my answers for the July Literary Junkies Link Party. Make sure to come back for next month’s questions and answers.

  4. Oh man, The Babysitter Club! I used to watched the show on HBO in the 90’s. I don’t think there were many episodes but I enjoyed them. I was also into Sweet Valley High. LOL! Ah, youth! 🙂
