Oh my goodness I’m so freaking excited! If you’ve been around for awhile then you know that I use to participate in a Link Party called Literary Junkies which is run by Taylor and Christine. Taylor and Christine decided to take a bit of a break from the linkup but now they’re back! So let’s jump in and get started.
What are you reading right now? Tell us about it.
Currently I’m reading Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I just finished The Husband’s Secret by her, read my review here, and LOVED it so I thought why not start another one by her. If I’m honest the synopsis won’t really tell you much about it and I’m not that far into it to know exactly what it’s about but I do know that it’s about a group of women and someone in the book is murdered but I don’t know who yet…Intrigued? Make sure to come back next Thursday and read my review of it.
What are your top 3 reads for summer?
I have a long list of books that I’m hoping to get read this summer as I don’t think I’ll have time to read a lot once I’m in school and I still want to be able to do book reviews. These are the three books that are currently at the top of my To Read pile; Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard, Mrs. Poe by Lynn Cullen, and What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I chose the first one because I’m watching the tv series and would love to catch up on the book series, I chose the second one because it just looked and sounded interesting on the Target shelf, and I chose the third one because I’m already reading two by her why not a third?
Do you have a favorite book that you like to re-read?
Hands-down my favorite book to re-read is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. Actually if I’m being honest it’s my favorite book period. I love the book so much that I will watch just about any book-to-movie adaptation of it that is put out, my favorite being the 1996 version which stars Charlotte Gainsbourg as the grown Jane Eyre and Anna Paquin as the younger Jane Eyre.
Do you have a favorite reading spot?
I’m one of those people who can read just about anywhere. I’m not even kidding; laying in bed, sitting on the couch, in the tub, in the car, etc. etc. One of my secrets to this though is that I tend to bounce back-and-forth between the books and the audiobooks when I’m reading. That’s right, when I read I usually have both the book and the audiobook (one or both is usually a borrow from the library) and if I’m in a position to read in the physical book/ebook then I’ll read in that, however, if I’m in the car, grocery store, or cooking I’ll switch to the audiobook and read that. While this does require a bit more work, remembering what chapter I’m on and navigating to it, it does give me the freedom to read whenever I want.
Do you enjoy sipping on a beverage while you read? If so, tell us your favorite drink pairing!!
This question depends on how good the book is. For example, once I started getting into The Husband’s Secret I didn’t even bother having anything nearby to drink because the book was getting so good that I knew I would never remember to drink what I had near me and I didn’t want to waste it. On the other hand if I know that I’ll be able to drink or snack while I read I usually keep either a glass of milk or a bottle of water near me with a cashew bar.
So there you have my answers for the June Literary Junkies Link Party. Make sure to come back for book reviews and for next month’s party as well!
