If you’re surprised to see me reviewing the Lights Lacquer Sweet as Summer Collection I don’t know why. I think at this point we can all agree I am a bit obsessed with Lights Lacquer. Oh something else I’m obsessed with, being back on YouTube… Yeah you read that right, check out the video below if you’d rather hear me ramble about these, or just keep scrolling.
About the Lights Lacquer Summer Collection
The full-size Lights Lacquer Summer Collection consists of six polishes that can be purchased individually or together as a collection, the six polishes are themed off the colors of a rainbow, there are three different formulas, and they retail for either $9.50 individually or $52.00 for the collection. The Lights Lacquer Summer Collection can be purchased at Lights Lacquer.
The three formulas in the Lights Lacquer Summer Collection are the typical cream, a new matte, and a jelly formula. There are three jelly polishes, two cream polishes, and one matte polish. As I mentioned above, Lights Lacquer polishes are 7-free which means they are free from Formaldehyde, Toulene, DBP, Camphor or Formaldehyde Resin, Xylene, Ethyl Tosylamide, TPHP, and Parabens.
Lights Lacquer Sweet as Summer Collection Swatches
Cherry Jelly is a red polish in a transparent jelly formula. This is a polish that is going to be hard to buildup. If you are wanting full opaqueness from your polishes then this is not the one for you.
Who Loves Orange Soda? is an orange polish in a matte finish. This polish is way more neon in real life than what it shows in photos or in the video. If you’re looking for a bright orange polish that that doesn’t scream “caution sign” then this is the polish for you.
Slice of Life is a yellow polish in a cream formula. This polish is neither primary yellow or neon yellow, it’s that perfect right in the middle level of yellow.
Now & Later is a green polish in a transparent jelly formula. This is another polish where the pictures and video just do not do it justice. Again, if you are wanting full opaqueness then this is not for you. However, it is a bit more buildable than Cherry Jelly.
Barry is a blue polish in a cream formula. I really like how this shade looks, however, if you purchased Porter Miami from KL Polish then you probably already have this shade. Seriously, they are practically identical. Which gives me hope for a Miss Honey rerelease, even if under a different name.
My Jam is a purple polish in a transparent jelly formula. This shade looks soooo gorgeous in the bottle, however, this is actually more transparent than Cherry Jelly which kills my soul. I want a shade like this but it needs to somewhat opaque.
Final Thoughts on the Lights Lacquer Summer Collection
In all honesty I don’t think that you need this entire collection unless you are a Lights Lacquer collector (do NOT look at me that way). I would pick up a polish or two in the formula or shade that you like and call it done at that. That’s not to say that these polishes aren’t all good, they are. It’s just that this collection just doesn’t scream you need all of them.

What a perfect summer collection! I love My Jam!
The purple is sooo pretty isn’t it?!
I wish the purple had more pigmentation, because it’s gorgeous!
Same. I’m hoping she does an opaque version of it down the line.
Oh these look great, I do like such bold and bright colours 😀
I thought you would actually like these Lights Lacquer polishes lol
The red is the only one that caught my eye. While the polishes are nice, they are easy to dupe.
I agree. They’re also easy to dupe from her previous KL Polishes. The blue and the green have EXACT matches in the KL Polish line and the red has a more opaque match. While she has brought back the black and white polishes from KL Polish she is claiming that non of the other Lights Lacquer polishes are move overs from KL Polish. Just a piece of trivia.
I think they would be pretty all done at the same time for pride month!
I think that was part of her thought process because initially these were supposed to release earlier than they did but got delayed due to her other launch being delayed due to COVID. If that is true then these would have launched in June during Pride month and would have been perfect for that. I’ve actually seen several people still doing Pride themed manicures with them on Instagram.
I love all the colors but the green and yellow are out of my comfort zone. They look like popsicles.
I can totally see that!
What a cute collection! I think those who like rainbow themes might want this entire collection coz you could really do some great rainbow manis with it. I like the bright colors, and the fact that there are 3 different finishes was quite a surprise
I was surprised as well and ALMOST didn’t get the full collection because of it. However, I’m a completionist so I did and actually using them I’m glad that I did.
Very cute collection. I love the brightness of all the shades – the only one that throws me off is the green, I would expect it to be brighter.
