The OPI Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya nail polish is from the New Orleans collection. As I’m from Louisiana I of COURSE had to pick up this collection when it launched a few years ago. However, per usual, I didn’t get around to swatching the collection back then. This polish is still purchasable, so keep scrolling to see swatches and my review.
About the Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Polish
The full-size Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Nail polish has 0.5 oz. or 15 mL of product, comes in four different formulas, and retails between $8.69 and $10.50. This nail polish can be purchased at Ulta and Amazon.
OPI claims that the original formula of their nail polish is a quality nail formula that lasts up to seven days. They say for the best performance to partner their nail polish with their base coat, top coat, and nail dryers. The ingredients for the Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Polish are:
OPI Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Swatches
This swatch is the Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Polish with a glossy top coat. With this top coat the polish lasted for about four days before starting to chip.
This swatch is the Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Polish with a matte top coat. Don’t come for me with how bad this swatch looks. This was taken immediately after the top coat was applied. The chips are where the top coat pulled at the polish and picked it up and that was after waiting over 20 minutes for the second coat of polish to dry. Oh and that was an OPI matte top coat.
Final Thoughts on the Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya Polish
I have used this polish previously and honestly have never liked this particular polish. I LOVE the shade, it looks so gorgeous and is very summery. However, the polish itself is horrible. This polish has a super thin consistency and while it is opaque in two coats the polish doesn’t layer well so getting to two coats without it doing what it did with the matte top coat. The only top coat this particular shade seems to work with are OPI top coats. My suggestion is to either skip this polish or get it from somewhere you know allows returns.

It is okay, it is the kind of colour that I fancy from time to time 😀
Cassie
It makes me want to bring out my Formula X one that is a similar shade but better quality and wear it more this summer.
Lola Seicento
What a pretty shade! Allison is going to LOVE this shade!
Cassie
I thought the same thing when I was editing the photos.

I haven’t been wearing OPI polish lately. Too bad this formula wasn’t a good one. I love the shade, and I have dupes or almost dupes for it from other brands. Perfect summer shade
Cassie
Lola and I both thought you would love this color lol. I haven’t been wearing OPI lately either. I love the brush and formula for Lights Lacquer so it’s my go to. However, the people have requested other polish brands occasionally… 😉

The shade is beautiful. Too bad it didn’t last very long.
Cassie
I agree.

What a shame that it chips so badly on you. I used to wear OPI more than I do now. I think there’s just so much repetition in their line.
Cassie
I agree. Once I noticed that I started branching out to other brands. Zoya, Lights Lacquer, and soooo many indie brands have such better selections and formulas in my opinion.

I like the color, I have a similar one from a different brand

That’s a beautiful shade, I love coral nail polish.
