You may know by now that I suffer from eczema. If you’ve watched any of my YouTube videos and seen the ring of patches around my neck then you’ve seen how bad my eczema is. While I have found things that will temporarily calm down things like the itching, my body eventually builds up a tolerance to it and I haven’t found anything that addresses the sight of the actual patches. When I realized that derma e had a line geared towards eczema and psoriasis sufferers, I jumped at the chance to review it!
Let’s start with the derma e Scalp Relief Shampoo and Scalp Relief Conditioner. The Scalp Relief Hair Care line are targeted towards people who have dandruff, scalp dryness, itching, flaking, and irritation. It helps to ease the discomfort while improving the condition of the scalp. It does this through a couple of different ingredients. First, the Psorzema Herbal Blend used in their other eczema and psoriasis products soothes the scalp while making the hair manageable and providing shine. Second, Salicylic acid helps to clear any built up flakes or other surface build-up from the scalp. Third, tea tree helps to provide antibacterial and antifungal help (dandruff is a build up of yeast on the scalp). Lastly, they both contain menthol that help to calm any itchiness on contact.
The derma e Scalp Relief Shampoo is different than any other shampoo that I have used. I made sure to read the directions first, which is a good thing because normally with shampoo I put it on, scrub my scalp, and rinse it off. With the Scalp Relief Shampoo you put it on, massage it onto the scalp, and then let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes! Towards the end of the 5 minutes you can actually start to feel it cleaning the scalp (in a good way). After the first use I noticed an immediate change in my scalp and the dandruff build-up that I have from my eczema. However, after multiple days of use I noticed a drastic difference. This will for sure be a repurchase!
The derma e Scalp Relief Conditioner works similarly to other conditioners I’ve used in that it recommends keeping it on for 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing. If you’re anything like me you’ve seen conflicting articles on the Internet about how long you should leave conditioner on and whether it should only be applied to the ends of the hair or the entire scalp. For the Scalp Relief Conditioner I’m going to tell you now to disregard everything else you’ve read about general conditioner use. This NEEDS to be applied to the scalp and strands and you NEED to leave it on for the 2 to 3 minutes. I will warn you now though the Scalp Relief Conditioner has menthol in it and it tingles. However, once you get past that on the first use you can instantly feel the itching easing off. Again, this will for sure be a repurchase.
The next step is the derma e Psorzema Body Wash which works best when used in conjunction with the derma e Psorzema Crème. Both products are designed to sooth and calm the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis. I was a bit skeptical with both of these products because I have tried a few lotions for eczema, without great results, I haven’t tried any body washes that are meant for eczema.
Oh my gosh. Can we talk for a minute about those pictures? On the left is the photo before I started using the derma e Psorzema line. The photo on the right, is after TWO applications of the body wash and lotion…TWO. Can you imagine what it’ll be like in a few weeks? I can’t even tell you how excited I am because those aren’t even the best results. I had stopped using it on my face and neck because I was testing out another product but I continued using it everywhere else. Patches that I had on my chest are almost completely gone, just slight discoloration where the skin is still healing. Patches that I had all up and down both arms are now down to one small patch the size of a dime on my left arm. I almost wish I could just rub the Crème on my scalp to help it along a little faster as the body care is working faster than the hair care!
If you, or someone you know, suffers from eczema or psoriasis I HIGHLY suggest that you pick up the derma e Eczema and Psoriasis Care line. Obviously, not everyone will get the same results (Head & Shoulders and Neutrogena works for some but after a few uses it will stop working for me) that I did but if there’s a chance that it could work for you, or a loved one, you have to try it!

love derma e, so i would love to try their hair care.
Good to know about this brand! I’ve had an itchy scalp my whole life and have always been prone to dandruff. Using The Honest Company shampoo changed that for me but if it ever comes back, I am looking into this brand!!
