*sigh* So does anyone remember when I reviewed the Tarte Birthday Bae Blush, the Tarte Cue the Confetti Eyeshadow Palette, and the Tarte Cue the Confetti Party Collection? Well the collection also came with a mascara that I didn’t review separately because I figured I had already reviewed it on my blog since I’ve owned MULTIPLES of it already. In a “putting the cart before the horse” move I went back and realized that I in fact had NOT reviewed the Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara on my blog. Keep scrolling to find out my thoughts on this mascara.
About the Tarte Mascara
The full-size Tarte Mascara has 0.24 oz or 7 mL of product, has a natural fiber mascara wand instead of a plastic wand, has short and long bristles, and retails for $23.00. This special edition birthday version can be purchased at Ulta, Tarte, Macy’s, and QVC.
Tarte claims that the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara has a formula that will lengthen, volumize, and curl the lashes. They also claim that the formula will wear for 24 hours without flaking. The ingredients for the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara are:
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes Mascara Review
As I stated above, I have owned several of the Lights, Camera, Lashes mascaras in the past. While most of them have been deluxe samples of the regular version I have also had a full-size of the regular, samples of special editions, and full-sizes of special editions. I usually tend to prefer the full-size of the mascara because the packaging isn’t hard plastic, it has a bit of give to it. I don’t know why but after using the softer full-size packaging I tend to prefer it for this particular mascara. This packaging has that softer touch and is very pretty to have.
As for the formula, I actually found this particular Lights, Camera, Lashes to not be as good as the other ones that I have tried. It had that strong, chemical mascara smell that I know you know what I’m talking about. It was also more wet than usual and even after two and a half months still stayed that way. I found that using this when I first opened it and several month later gave me the same result; lashes that had a little extra length, some curl, very slight volume but that never really dried completely so the mascara constantly ran.
Final Thoughts on the Tarte Mascara
Honestly it’s been ages since I’ve used a Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara so this may just be the way the formula is now. If that’s the case then go ahead and purchase this one over the regular. It’s the same size, same price, and prettier limited edition packaging. However, if this is not normal for Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara then I’d say skip this one and if you’re going to purchase one just stick to the regular.
If you regularly use Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara, let us know in the comments below if this is their new normal formula.

Thanks for the heads up on this one. I love that packaging and I personally prefer a wet mascara, but I think I’ll probably stick to the original since I know I already love what it does for my lashes.

Strong chemical smells are enough for me not to use it!
Never Say Die Beauty
I’ve used Lights Camera Lashes a few times in both travel and I think I bought the full size once. It’s in my second tier of mascaras. Honestly, I find that all mascaras different drastically from tube to tube, even my absolute faves. I love the special edition packaging on this tube. That alone would make me want to use it

I had the same experience. I remember it being not so wet and actually performed better when it first came out so they probably tweaked the formula

I have tried Tarte mascaras before (ps – I am loving the packaging) and have always thought that it worked okay, though a little too wet for my liking sometimes. This particular mascara though, I have never been a fan. It’s been a few years since I’ve tried it though, so it’s interesting to see if they work for me now.

I find it hard to splurge on mascaras! I have liked Benefit Roller Lash but usually just stick with CoverGirl!

I wore this mascara on and off for years. It used to be part of most Tarte QVC specials so I had many. I remember liking it back then but my tastes have changed since then so I don’t know if I’d like it.

Great to see you back Cassie, I saw your last comment – hope you enjoyed your wee blogging break. And managed to help all the students. What you been watching? Anything good?
Now I gotta say the packing look amazing but donno the brand. I don’t wear makeup but got a free Barry M mascara with a polish purchase. I tried it and it seemed pretty good.

We went through Elementary (updated version of Sherlock Holmes) and are going back to Xena Warrior Princess now. We have weird taste in TV 😉
I didn’t know that Barry M had makeup, I thought they were a polish only brand. The things you learn.

Not seen Elementary but did enjoy Xena. Joxer and Autolycus were my favourite characters <3 I do love Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell. Not that weird to me 😉 Binged Heroes and now onto a German show called Dark – recommend it highly if you are okay with subtitles.
Yeah they do lots of other stuff too – not just polishes 😀 Every day is a school day – or so I am told!

It’s the first time my husband has watched Xena. We just got to the part where Solan is killed by Hope. He is shocked that he never watched it before. Joxer and Autolycus are his favorites as well because he is a huge Bruce Campbell fan and he thinks Joxer is funny. I watch all shows with subtitles on so foreign language with subtitles are fine with me.

I love the packaging!
