For those who don’t know Boxycharm also has Premium and Luxe Subscriptions. When I resubscribed to the base box last month, I decided to go ahead and subscribe to the Premium box as well. That means you also get a May Boxycharm Premium Unboxing this month!
About Boxycharm Premium
So what is Boxycharm Premium and what makes it different from the base Boxycharm? Boxycharm Premium is $10 more a month ($35 instead of the $25) and you get one to two more products. One thing that needs to be noted for the Premium subscription is that to get on the wait list for Premium you have to be subscribed to the base Boxycharm. If you cancel your base subscription before getting off the wait list you will be removed from the wait list when you cancel. This means that you WILL be charged for the Premium box AND the base box the first month you come off the wait list. You will receive both boxes and you can cancel the base subscription after the first month. I have noticed that for the Premium subscription Boxycharm has currently been holding to their “full-size” product claims. Where the base box is getting items sold as minis at Sephora, or two-piece brush sets, the Premium box is getting the fuller size of the mini and the full set of brushes.
Kevyn Aucoin Mascara
The first product in my May Boxycharm Premium box was the Kevyn Aucoin The Expert Mascara. This mascara is supposed to have a weightless formula that volumizes, lengthens, and lifts the lashes. This can be purchased at Sephora for $29.00.
Skin & Co Eye Cream
The next product in my May Boxycharm Premium box was the Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate. This is supposed to nourish and hydrate the undereye are while tightening and smoothing it. This can be purchased at Ulta for $66.00
Milk Makeup Lip and Cheek Tint
The next product in my May Boxycharm Premium box is the Milk Makeup Glow Oil Lip + Cheek Tint in Glimmer. This is supposed to be a mini lip and cheek tint that has a shimmery sheer formula that gives a “lit-from-within glow”. This can be purchased at Sephora for $15.00.
Battington Brushes
The next product in my May Boxycharm Premium box was the Battington Powder and Contour Brush Set. These are supposed to be a brush duo made from Taklon hairs that are easier to clean, harder to damage, etc. These can be purchased at Battington Beauty for $90.00…
Sugar Rush Lip Balm
The next product in my May Boxycharm Premium box is the Sugar Rush Best Bud Lip Butter Balm in Peony. This is supposed to be a hydrating lip balm done by Tarte’s new sister? daughter? brand Sugar Rush. This can be purchased at Ulta for $12.00.
Pureheals Serum
The last product in my May Boxycharm Premium box is the Pureheals Centella 90 Ampoule. This is supposed to be a serum that contains 90% cetella asiatica extract (rich in amino acids and good for stimulating new cell growth and improving circulation). This can be purchased at Amazon for $28.00.
Value of May Boxycharm Base Box
$240.00
Final Thoughts on the May Boxycharm Premium Unboxing
$90 for two freaking makeup brushes?! Oh you KNEW I was starting there. I can’t count the number of brands I could get brushes from for less than these TWO brushes. Ecotools. Real Techniques. Sigma. Urban Decay. The list goes on. I can think of no earthly reason why these are $90. Having held these in my hands I still can’t think of any reason these are $90. From there, the two skin care items (Eye Cream and Serum) are kind of meh. I’m pretty picky about my skin care and both seem kind of over priced for what they are. That leaves the lip balm, lip and cheek tint, and mascara. I was excited to get all three of these products. I’ve wanted to try the Sugar Rush brand to compare it to Tarte, however, since I’m not really the targeted demographic I didn’t want to spend the money on it. As for the Milk Makeup, I’ve wanted to try out some of their products but I would have never purchased this as I’m not big on 2-in-1 products like this, so I’m glad this was sent. Lastly, the Kevyn Aucoin mascara is a mascara and it’s by Kevyn Aucoin so that’s a win-win.
Now let’s talk about how I’m going to review Boxycharm products. I’ll be picking, at most, two to three products from the box to review independently of the box. The remaining products will be covered at the end of the month in a Subscription Box Roundup. For the May Boxycharm Premium I’ll be reviewing the Kevyn Aucoin Mascara and the Milk Makeup Lip and Cheek Tint. The other products will be covered in a Roundup post in a few weeks.

You got a lot of great full size products! That sugar rush lip balm container is adorable.
Sugar Rush’s packaging seems to be very on brand for their target demographic.
I’ve tried that mascara before and really like it!
I’m super excited to try it. However, Huda’s new one is being delivered on Monday so this one will have to wait lol
I like those Milk sticks since they are good cream blushes. I don’t use them on my lips though. KA mascara is an excellent one so you should do well with that. The brushes aren’t name brands so I too wonder about the value of them. It feels like they wanted to make the box seem more costly. I cancelled BoxyCharm after all these years. Now I wonder though if I only cancelled my Premium box and not the original. I’m finally disillusioned with Boxy which is a shame because I raved about it so much originally.
I agree. I use to recommend Boxycharm to a lot of people, especially if they were just starting to get into beauty products. However, now I don’t feel comfortable recommending the subscription to anyone. I went ahead and cancelled both of my boxes. My only subscription left is Birchbox.
This would be a great box for me. I would love to try the Aucoin mascara, and the skincare products. I know you don’t think the brushes are worth it, but they look so pretty to me! I have a Milk Blush & Lip mini (not oil like yours), and I absolutely love it as a blush. I am curious about the Milk oil, LMK what you think.
*sets skin care products to the side to send to you* I’m planning on covering the other products in a roundup here in a week or so. Since I have dry skin the oil should work well with my skin but we’ll have to see.
Those brush heads remind me of the Hourglass brushes that I have (and love).
Hmmm I don’t have any Hourglass brushes to compare them to…Might need to go pick some up LOL
The little lip balm looks so cute 😀
The packaging really is on point for Sugar Rush
