About Boxycharm Base
Before we get into the products included in my May Boxycharm Base Box let’s talk about what the Boxycharm Base Subscription is. The base subscription is the first subscription you get at Boxycharm. If you want premium or Luxe you have to subscribe to the base box first and then join the wait list for the others. The base box costs $25 a month and you are promised at least 5 full-size products. Personally, I unsubscribed previously because the claim of “full-size” has gotten stretched of late. In one box last year there was a product that was part of the five included items and it is listed on Sephora as a mini. From there, once the premium box launched there were a few items that were in both boxes but a smaller version was in the base box. I’m telling you this because you should know that while you are promised 5 full-size items, you may not always get full-size items. You’re not going to get foil packets but you won’t always get full-size.
Studio Makeup Palette
The first product in my May Boxycharm Base box was the Studio Makeup Ease to Wear Palette. This palette claims to have a versatile color scheme that is good for all skin tones. This is a Boxycharm Exclusive and retails for $35.00.
GlamGlow Face Mask
The next product in my May Boxycharm Base box was the GlamGlow BerryGlow Probiotic Recovery Face Mask. This is supposed to be a lightweight moisturizing mask that has super berries and probiotics to help repair the moisture barrier. This can be purchased at Sephora for $49.00.
Pretty Vulgar Primer
The next product in my May Boxycharm Base box is the Pretty Vulgar Uncaged Eyeshadow Primer. This is supposed to be a lightweight and blendable eyeshadow primer that promises to be crease-proof and fade-proof. This retails for $22.00 and can be purchased at Pretty Vulgar.
Daily Concepts Shampoo Bar
The next product in my May Boxycharm Base box is the Daily Concepts Daily Shampoo Bar. This is supposed to be a shampoo that can be used daily but in a solid form. This retails for $24.00 and can be purchased at Daily Concepts. You may also find it inside stores that sell Daily Concept products like Ulta but it is YMMV.
Ayam Beauty Wipes
The last product in my May Boxycharm Base box are the Ayam Beauty Dead Sea Minerals + Vitamin C Serum Makeup Remover Wipes. This is a pack of 25 makeup remover wipes that are supposed to moisturize and brighten the skin along with preventing dark spots while removing makeup. These retail for $17.00 and can be purchased at Ayam Beauty.
Value of May Boxycharm Base Box
$147.00
Final Thoughts on the May Boxycharm Base Unboxing
This box was kind of meh for me. In all honesty I think the value of $147 is an inflated cost. I do not feel like palette should retail for $35, or at least I would not purchase this palette at that cost from this brand. I feel like this is one that you would find at TJ Maxx for $14.99. The same applies for the makeup wipes. There are brands like Philosophy, Clinique, etc. who have better brand recognition and are available for less. Again, I feel like those would be available at TJ Maxx for $9.99 if not less. However, that’s just my two cents.
Now let’s talk about how I’m going to review Boxycharm products. I’ll be picking, at most, two to three products from the box to review independently of the box. The remaining products will be covered at the end of the month in a Subscription Box Roundup. For the May Boxycharm Base I’ll be reviewing the GlamGlow Mask and the Daily Concepts Shampoo Bar. The other products will be covered in a Roundup post in a few weeks.

The value still seems pretty good, though.
It is. Even if you lower the prices of some of the products to what they should be, the GlamGlow alone is more than the price of the box.
I hope you’ll review the Glamglow mask. I adore their masks but I haven’t tried this one. The Glamglow masks I’ve tried cost $59, so I think it’s great you got one in your Boxycharm box!
I will be testing the GlamGlow mask. I did a test patch of it already to make sure I didn’t have a reaction to it. I want to use it a few times before reviewing it so look for that in a week or two.
I was so disappointed that they couldn’t even take the time to put in the card. I felt like my box just had some random products thrown in. Normally I love Boxycharm but they’ve lost me as a customer.
At first I thought it might be that they just didn’t put it in PR boxes as I noticed Katie from From My Vanity and Kathleen Lights didn’t have it in theirs. Then I didn’t have one in mine and a few other non PR unboxings I watched didn’t have them either. It was lazy and to me it seems like the base box is now just an afterthought to Boxycharm. I feel like they want people to switch over to Premium and then they keep the base for Luxe so that during those months they can charge you $50. Other than that, I feel like they don’t want to waste time on the base box. Which if that is the case then just retire it instead of sending crap products.
I agree with the palette. Overpriced for the size and shade selection. It doesn’t stand out. It actually reminds me of elf which is way cheaper
It reminds me of elf as well but with not as good packaging.
Sorry to hear the box was a disappointment. That really sucks.
It does. I’m hoping June is better. If it’s not I’ll be ditching the base box.
The palette looks okay I guess.
Right?! It’s really just, okay. It’s nothing to go running and telling everyone about.
