I’m not going to lie, I was a bit confused when I saw there was a butter LONDON x Barbie Nail Polish Set. I was even more confused when I saw that there was also a “sister” collab with PUR Cosmetics. Then I SAW the colors for the nail polish and I was no longer confused, then I saw the names for the nail polish and I was confused again… Let’s see if we can sort this all out shall we?
About the butter LONDON x Barbie Nail Polish Set
The Barbie Nail Polish Set comes with two 0.4 oz. bottles of nail polish, they are in butter LONDON’s typical rectangle bottle with no special packaging, and the set retails for $27.00. The Barbie Nail Polish can be purchased at either Ulta or butter LONDON’s website.
butter LONDON claims that both polishes are chip resistant and will protect and strengthen the nails. The pink shade is formulated with diamond powder to brighten the nail color, bamboo extract to strengthen the nails, UV absorbers to keep the polish from fading, and their shock resistant technology to keep the polish long wearing. The silver shade is formulated with Vitamins B, C, and E to help strengthen the nails, hydrolyzed silk to promote nail growth, and horsetail extract (not from an actual horse’s tail) to help the nails grow. The other ingredients in the polishes are:
butter LONDON x Barbie Nail Polish Set Review
I don’t understand what is going on with beauty brands and collabs these days. Disney has so many different collabs going on, that launch with ZERO warning, and over different brands. Barbie has a collab with butter LONDON AND Pur Cosmetics. I just don’t understand it. Another thing I don’t understand is the naming of the polishes. Can someone explain this to me? Maybe I just don’t know enough about Barbie. The silver shade, Diamond Geezer, I get. It’s the 60th anniversary of Barbie and the 60th anniversary is the Diamond. Geezer is “supposed” to be a crack at her age, 60 now hence the anniversary, but I’m not sure I’m fond of that but what do I know *shrug*. Now the pink shade, Coming Up Roses, I just don’t understand why they chose that. I mean, I know what the quote means and all that but I don’t understand why they chose it, if that makes sense?
Anywho, moving onto my thoughts on the Barbie Nail Polishes. Aside from being confused about the above, I wasn’t confused about much else. I’ve used butter LONDON polishes in the past and loved them, these were no different. They applied wonderfully, lasted for a good solid several days before even hinting at chipping (even with daily computer typing), and looked gorgeous on the nails. Out of the two polishes I would have to say that Coming Up Roses was my favorite of the two as I felt it looked the best on my nails. I don’t think that had anything to do with the fact that it was from the Patent Shine line while Diamond Geezer was from the regular line, I think it’s just that I don’t tend to prefer metallic polishes with my skin tone.
Final Thoughts on the butter LONDON x Barbie Nail Polish Set
Before we get into my recommendations on whether you should purchase this set or not I did want to leave you with a little tip. I KNOW that the shape of the butter LOND bottles can be difficult to deal with when polishing the nails but did you know you can actually make it easier on yourself. The uncomfortable rectangular lids can be twisted off of a smaller, rounder, and more comfortable inner lid and then popped back on! Julep lids work the same way (picture at the top of the post).

Back to my recommendations. Honestly if you like these two shades you can’t go wrong with this set. You’re getting a pretty pink shade and a pretty metallic silver shade with a bit of a discount on them. If the only thing you’re in it for is the fact that it’s a Barbi collab, then in all honesty I’d skip these. The ONLY thing about this collab that denotes that it has ANYTHING to do with Barbie (besides maybe the color and that’s a stretch) is the fact that lightly on the silver lid on a sticker it says butter LONDON x Barbie.

While I don’t really get how either of these polishes connect to Barbie, I do like the colors a lot. There are way too many collaborations to keep up with!
Cassie says
My thoughts exactly.
NeverSayDieBeauty says
Names notwithstanding, it is a pretty duo and pairing. That pink would be a go to shade for me. Metallics, though, show all the bumps on my nails. I’ll probably pass because I have a damaged thumbnail and I am not wearing polish now, but I would love the pink.
Cassie says
The metallic does show all the bumps and I have the same issue with them.
Kristina says
The colors are pretty for sure, but I agree that the names are a bit weird for a Barbie theme.
Cassie says
The names are just odd to me.
Polished Hippy says
I think these shades might just be re-promotes.
Cassie says
Hmm, I should have thought about that and looked that up. My apologies.
Jen Walker says
This is a cute duo that screams Barbie, but it is an unusual pick for a collaboration. I associate Barbie with either fashion or makeup, but not nail polish. That said, I like Butter London quality and these are pretty.
Cassie says
Those were my same thoughts! The PUR x Barbie collab I get, this one not so much.
Cindy Ingalls says
Love both of these shades!
Cassie says
The pink is so pretty
25 Sweetpeas says
Thats a cute duo, sound like good polishes too!
Cassie says
They are!
Glamorable says
Love this combination, and the coral shade on its own! I should revisit Butter London, it was the first fancy nail polish brand I ever bought btw 🙂
Cassie says
Theirs was the first cuticle oil I bought. Love that stuff.
