Derma e Tinted Moisturizer Review
I honestly don’t know where to start in this review. I want to talk about the product itself, I want to talk about the ingredients, but I also want to talk about that horrible shade range. Yes I get that it’s a tinted moisturizer / bb cream so it’s not going to have the shade range as a foundation line. But seriously five shades? That bugs me, however, I’ll get more into that in my final thoughts.
Taking away the shade range, I found the Tinted Moisturizer to be a pretty good tinted moisturizer. It was lightweight on the skin, didn’t clog my pores to bad, and was hydrating. The bilberry extract did even out the skin tone a bit, while the vitamin E did it’s job of softening the skin and the vitamin C brightened it. I will say that inside the little pamphlet in the box Derma e did have a few tips on how to apply their tinted moisturizer which was to warm it in the hand before applying for smoother application. NO. Just no. I know a lot of people like to do fast and easy applications of tinted moisturizer, bb creams, and foundations with their hands but ick. It’s so unhygienic and messy. I found that the best way to apply the Tinted Moisturizer was with a beauty sponge. They also suggested using the leftover bb cream as an eye shadow base which I’m cool with.
Final Thoughts on Derma e Tinted Moisturizer
Back to that shade range. When you have brands like NARS, bareMinerals, and Laura Mercier with double, if not more, the amount of shades. On top of that drugstore brands like Maybelline also have Tinted Moisturizers / BB Creams with the same number of shades, five, but are half the price. Derma e does say that you can mix shades to get your perfect shade but I personally can’t afford two tinted moisturizers at a $19.95 price point now that Maybelline BB Cream at $8.99, I could afford two of those. So my recommendation is this. If one of these would match you then go ahead and get it because it is an amazing tinted moisturizer. However, if none of these are your shade or the principal of having such a small shade range at such a high price is one you can’t get down with then give this one a skip.
