It’s time for the June Allure Beauty Box, however, when I did the March and April Unboxing I had asked if anyone would be interested in seeing some of the past boxes and a few said they were. I was going to just post them on Instagram Stories BUT I decided to post them here so you would be able to come back to it and get a good overview of what you can expect form an Allure Beauty Box overtime. To see what all was in my May Allure Beauty Box and a “few” past ones as well, check out the video below or just keep scrolling.
June Allure Beauty Box Unboxing
The June Subscribe Beauty Box was done in collaboration with Kat Von D. Most of the products in this box were products from her cosmetic line, however, there was one item, the walnut scrub, that wasn’t. Even after looking at the booklet that comes in each month’s box I’m still not sure why this item was included. To go along with that, the June box also had a variation. If you were an established subscriber you received the mirror that is done in the KVD logo and if you weren’t then you received a liquid lipstick…

May Allure Beauty Box
The May Allure Beauty Box is themed around life in the fast lane. As such, a lot of the products are themed around being able to do things quicker. I have to say that when I first saw the sneak peeks of this box I was so disappointed and was going to cancel. Seriously the only thing that kept me subscribed was that I found that I had already been charged for the month. However, when I received the May box and started to go through it I was actually surprised by how much I love it! There are actually no products I will be destashing from May’s box and that is a first!

February Allure Beauty Box
Since I already covered March and April in their own post that moves us onto the February Allure Beauty Box. February saw the editor for the past six years for the Allure Beauty Box leave and a new editor start in her place. In all honesty, while she’s had good boxes since February, February was a very rough moth of products for my personal tastes. The only thing I see myself using is the Tarte mascara!

January Allure Beauty Box
The big thing about the January Allure Beauty Box was that Allure announced that there was going to be a full-size Sunday Riley skin care product in the box. If you don’t know anything about Sunday Riley the only things that you need to know to appreciate this is that their skin care is EXPENSIVE and it’s supposedly AMAZING. Don’t believe me? The box total for January was a whopping $186.51!

December Allure Beauty Box
December’s Allure Beauty Box was curated by YouTuber Jaclyn Hill. The box featured samples of some of her favorite products including the highlighter from her collaboration with Becca, Champagne Pop. The only issue with December’s box was that the box only had a value of $38.26, well below that promised range.

November Allure Beauty Box
November’s Allure Beauty Box didn’t really have a theme but according to the editor’s note in the pamphlet she was inspired by things her dermatologist told her. The November box featured two products from one brand AND four skincare products.

June Allure Beauty Box Final Thoughts
I have been on the fence about what to do about this subscription box for the past couple of months. The boxes are alternating between having amazing value and not even hitting the bottom promised value. On top of that, I just wasn’t excited when I looked at spoilers, I wasn’t excited when I got tracking, and I wasn’t excited when I saw the box in my mailbox. However, what tipped me over the edge on cancelling was the latest partnership with Kat Von D. Now I’m not going to get in a big debate on whether the things that she has said in the present and past are true or false. I’m not going to get in a debate on whether people should be boycotting her or not. I’m also not going to judge anyone who supports her or boycotts her and I’m not going to get into where I fall in this. What I am going to say is that with someone so polarizing Allure Beauty Box could have an option to skip the month for those who don’t want to support her or even had another box that they could switch to for the month. Basically with so many boxes not hitting promised value, not being excited about the box, and the box editors choosing a polarizing figure to focus a full box around I just don’t want to keep giving $15+ after tax to that. I can spend that somewhere else.

The KVD thing really is troubling. I never used that many of her things so not so difficult for me. I just cancelled Sephora Play after a couple of years. It’s hard to pull the plug but ultimately satisfying
I actually just resubscribed to Sephora Play after cancelling this subscription lol
Subscription boxes are often hit and miss. Sometimes it feels like many of them are just filling them with samples and deluxe samples that one could get for free at a department store.
Exactly! It’s one of the reasons that I love Boxycharm with their full-size products. It’s more expensive but you get full-size products instead of samples.
I cancelled after my May box. I really like the boxes but I need to save money. I already have more makeup & beauty products than I can possibly ever use up.
I’m getting to that point…well I’m probably already there but still in the denial phase.
I never felt I got enough of value from the Allure box or the Sephora Play bag so I gave them up. I ended up giving away almost everything in giveaways. It’s wonderful when you get a month with products you’ll really use but then the following month seems disappointing.
That was the problem I had with Ipsy as well. I’d get one or two amazing bags and then 3 or 4 months of just blah and what seemed like extra samples from Ulta or something.
I canceled all my sub boxes a while back and just subscribed to Boxycharm.
I still have Sephora Play and Boxycharm and I’ll probably keep Boxycharm even if Sephora Play starts to annoy me.
Sometimes I think brands have to be careful when choosing who to do collaborations with. Describing her as polarizing is probably the nicest way to put it. Hopefully you find other subscription services that suit you better!
I think so as well. Boxycharm actually announced right before she made her vaccine comments that she was going to be a brand in one of their upcoming boxes, however, I haven’t heard them mention it again since she made the comments. I’m interested to see if they’re still going to put her product in, if they’re waiting it out to see if it dies down, or if they’re just going to drop it.
Wow they have some great products in these boxes!
They really do!
I see where You’re coming from regarding cancelling, especially you weren’t getting value out of it.
Sometimes I’m willing to conceded a lower value box if the personal value is there, however, the personal value started to go down as well for me.
I can see some AMAZING boxes, and some not to wow ones. That’s not fair that they gave subscribers a mirror and others a liquid lipstick – it should have been equal for everybody!
I agree, especially for something like that. I’ve seen so many people posting in different trade and subscription box groups trying to trade or purchase the mirror.
