I mentioned in my January Birchbox post that it was going to be my last Birchbox for awhile. I did windup cancelling for several months, however, I saw that they had a signup bonus for a free Pixi by Petra Eyeshadow Palette and I’ve been wanting to try the brand so it seemed like a no brainer to signup for at least a month. When you initially join, or resign with, Birchbox you can choose that month’s themed box or you can choose a fully random box. I decided to go with the random box for May, and here’s what was inside my May 2016 Birchbox.
Cargo Blush and Bronzer Duo || While the one that came in the May Birchbox had the blush and bronzer in one container, the one one the site is actually two full-size products. You are purchasing, at the moment, a blush in Catalina and a bronzer that supposedly pairs perfectly with it.
CoTZ Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 || A sunscreen that has no oil, making it non-greasy with a matte finish. This is best for medium skin tones as it is also a complexion matching sunscreen so it will blend in naturally.
Vera Bradley Perfume in Macaroon Rose || Main notes are macaroons, rose petals, sandalwood, and jasmine. Scent is a sweet floral that can be worn during the day or for a romantic date.
Supergoop! Sun Defying Sun Defying Sunscreen Oil || Sunscreen oil with a SPF of 50 that provides a glow on the body while still protecting it as well. Needs to be applied an hour before sun exposure.
Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo || Shampoo designed for people with coarse or frizzy hair. Contains oil extract to allow hair to lay smoother.
Davines LOVE Smoothing Conditioner || The companion to the above shampoo, contains oil extract to tame frizziness but also contains Vitamin E and antioxidants to provide soft hair with a healthy shine.

Overall I was not thrilled with the May Birchbox or with any of the past sets of sample choices so I decided to go ahead and cancel. I don’t want to say that I’m completely done with Birchbox as you never know what could happen. I will say that they will have to up their game in order for me to resubscribe!
