Recently I had the opportunity to pick up a few items at Ulta. I also had the opportunity to upgrade my camera and due to working with a new camera I didn’t realize that the end of this video got caught off and a few items didn’t make it into the video. That’s alright though because one of those items actually is no longer sold by Ulta! Let’s just go ahead and jump into the haul and I can tell you about the issues as we go!
Let’s start with hair products first! Not pictured (but included in the video) I got the Hot Tools Professional Marcel Iron in the 1 inch size. I demonstrate in the video but essentially the Marcel Curling Iron is the one that you have to click and turn the handle. I got this specific curling iron for my kit as I need it for State Board! Also not pictured but in the video, I picked up a ULTA Heat Resistant Tote to become my new Clinical Kit bag. Next I wanted to stock up on my Redken Pillow Proof Dry Shampoo and I saw that they were having a buy two get one free sale so I decided to pick up two other Redken products. I’ve heard good things about the Redken Pillow Proof Primer so I decided to pick that up to give a try. Lastly, I decided to give the Redken Shatterproof Shine a try!
For skin care I decided to use this opportunity to pick up a, much wished for, Clarisonic Mia 2. I chose this specific Mia 2 because it came with two brush heads, the regular and a radiance brush head, and a cleansing peel. I decided to go ahead and take the plunge because Ulta was having a sale that you got an additional brush head, sample sized mask, and a deluxe sample cleanser for free with the purchase of a Clarisonic.
For makeup I, of course, had to pick up a few items! We’ll start with the ones that are pictured AND in the video, sigh. First I picked up the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette. From the moment this palette was announced it was on my “I’m GOING to Purchase This” list, it totally skipped the wish list! Having it in my hands it did not disappoint, it actually does smell like peanut butter!! Sadly, the next item I purchased is no longer sold by Ulta, I picked up a Duckling Lip Gloss by Sweet & Shimmer. I have to admit that I purchased this purely for decoration and not to actually use. Speaking of items that are no longer sold by Ulta! I also picked up the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette, this is one of the items not in the video, which is now sold out! The last item that I got in my Ulta Haul, and again it isn’t in the video, was a travel-sized Urban Decay B6 Prep Spray. I got this purely to test out for my kit to see if I want to include it as a possible primer.

I’m curious about the Clarisonic and how it works for sensitive skin. I know I need something to exfoliate, but scrubs and things like that tend to irritate my skin and I wonder if this would do the same? My skin is a hot mess right now (end of winter blahs) and I really need to do something about it.

If you have sensitive skin you can totally make the Clarisonic work for you. The Mia 2, Mia 3, and Mia Fit all have not only a universal (normal) setting but a delicate setting as well. If you’re worried that would still be to rough Clarisonic also sells a sensitive brush head that is good for people who are the outer edge of sensitive to normal skin. If you have REALLY sensitive skin they also have a delicate brush head that is even gentler!

Ulta is one of my favorite places to window shop. I could literally shop for hours! So many great items for spring that I need to check out.

i was going to ask how the marcel is working out for you! i have one but i admit i don’t use it as much!! great haul.
Cassie says
I haven’t actually used it on my hair as it’s mainly for my Cosmetology kit. Aside from that whole click-and-turn action it’s working out great. I didn’t think it would make a huge difference but it actually does make a difference over the basic curling iron I bought earlier in the year for my kit. I just need to practice that click-and-turn.

Whoa, it actually smells like peanut butter? That’s crazy! I wonder, does it actually have peanut in it? I do love a good eyeshadow, but I have terrible trouble wearing them because my eyelid folds under and doesn’t really show. I only have a tiny area where I can put on eyeshadow.
Cassie says
I didn’t even think of that question! I checked and they do not contain peanut butter just peanut butter fragrance, so if you’re allergic to peanut butter but love the smell these would be safe according to the ingredient list.
