I first started using an Erin Condren Life Planner about five years ago. I’m not going to lie, I haven’t been a loyal, ride-or-die Erin Condren Life Planner user during those five years. I’ve used other planners like the Plum Paper, ones purchased at Target/Walmart, and even inserts gotten off of Etsy. However, my eyes have always been drawn back to the Erin Condren Life Planner. This year I decided to pull the plug and go back to the 2019 – 2020 Hourly Erin Condren Life Planner. Below I’m going to go through all the options that are available this year for the Life Planner along with photos of my planner.
2019 – 2020 Hourly Erin Condren Life Planner
When you first are choosing your Erin Condren Life Planner the first choice you are going to have to make is binding options. In previous years the only choice you had to make was what type of coil you wanted, however, this year the option of a binder has been added. Some things to know about the binder option: you can only choose the 18 month option, there are only four cover options, and right now the punch method is proprietary so there are no pre-punched inserts and if you got inserts that were unpunched you’d have to punch the correct holes using a single-hole punch.
If you decide to go with the coiled planner the default is the Platinum coil but you can upgrade to either Gold, Rose Gold, or Black coil for $10.00. This year’s theme is Kaleidoscope, which is the cover pictured above, and also new this year is an addition of a page before the monthly spread. This page has a section for goals, birthdays, and an empty section on top with a dot grid space at the bottom. While I love this page and can’t wait to add things in, I’ve already seen shops talking about different stickers to cover this page due to customer demand.
Another selection that you have to make is whether you want the colorful or neutral layout, which I feel comes more into play here then in the weekly spread. For the monthly layout in the colorful spread it’s as you see here; colorful borders at the top and bottom and the sidebar is blue. However, in the neutral you get no bars on the top and bottom and the sidebar is just lines. In all honesty in the neutral it looks no different than any other calendar in any other planner.
The last choice that you have to make for your Erin Condren Life Planner, whether binder or coiled, is what type of weekly spread you want. The options are horizontal, vertical, and hourly. As I just finished school and am hoping to transition into a job soon, I opted for the hourly layout. I’ve previously used the vertical and horizontal and not having the time layouts just didn’t work for me in being able to keep up with things. However, I’ve seen people use the horizontal for journaling and the vertical to keep track of so many things so any of the three choices is a good one!
In the past the Erin Condren Life Planner came with several note pages and colorful quarter box stickers. Then they added in dot-grid pages and now they’ve added in a few sheets of these amazing stickers. You can also purchase the monthly sticker book if you like these stickers, but more on accessories in just a moment.
I think one of my favorite updates this year for the Erin Condren Life Planner deals with the back folder. In past years the back folder was a little flap at the bottom that held absolutely NOTHING securely! This year they made the back folder the same as the other side of the folder and I am SOOOO happy. Oh and of course, you get the perpetual planner in there per usual. This is good for keeping track of birthdays or events that don’t change dates from year to year so that you can move them easier into your next planner.
Lastly, let’s talk about the different accessories there are for the 2019 – 2020 Erin Condren Life Planner. The first one is the box pictured here, the Storage Box, which the coiled planners now come shipped in! I saw several people feature this when they did their PR Unboxings but I wasn’t sure if ALL planners would come with it so when mine did I was super excited. You could use this to store your previous planner, planner covers, washi tape, etc. Oh I should probably mention that you can purchase additional ones in this and the Neutral colorway for only $6 and they are SUPER sturdy! Another thing that I think is relatively new to Erin Condren is Planner Charms. Due to the fact that I’m an EC Insider, which is their rewards program, I had early access to order my planner and also to get this special edition Planner Charm. However, they have initial Planner Charms and ones that look like colorful gems.

I love this planner! I have a severe addiction to planners and just bought another one the other day. I keep hoping that they will help me become more organized. Hasn’t happened yet, but I’m not ready to give up hope!

I do the exact same thing!

I feel restricted not being able to change out pages as the need arises. However, I might be more likely to put a spiral bound planner to use instead of changing it up every few months.

I’ve always loved the look of these and would have loved one when I was teaching. I don’t have the need for it anymore though I do keep a calendar on my desk and in my purse. If I needed a planner this would be one I’d get.

I tried the EC hourly but switched back to the weekly. I get a new EC planner every year.

I think I would be more willing to buy it if the price was lower. It sounds super neat though and definitely something I would be interested in!

I thought the same thing at first but it really is worth the price. If you purchase one at a store like Target you’re going to pay between $20 – $30 depending on the style that you get and an office supply store is going to be even higher. However, I’ve found that the quality for those is no where near the quality of the Erin Condren’s. This baby can handle some rough use to the point that I actually got one for my husband and it withstood him lol

I enjoyed this review. I’m normally a Happy Planner girl but I’m considering an EC for this next year, just to shake it up. I don’t know… But I need to decide, soon. New planners are releasing and it’s time to get off the stick and get my new one.
