A new collaboration launched a few months ago, the MAC x Patrick Starrr collection is a collaboration between makeup brand MAC and YouTuber Patrick Starrr. The collection consisted of twelve products! While I was hoping to be able to get my hands on a few products from the collection I’ve only been able to get my hands on the Patrick Woo Lipstick and the Brick Lip Liner. Let’s talk more about the MAC x Patrick Starrr collection, these specific products, and my thoughts shall we.
MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection
As I said, the MAC x Patrick Starrr collection consists of twelve products. Those products are; two eyeshadow quads, three lipsticks, three lipglasses, three lip liners, and a setting powder. The two eyeshadow quads retail for $32 / each, Goalgetter has four permanent shades and Glam AF has three permanent and one limited edition shade. The three lipsticks retail for $17.50 and are limited edition. The three lipglasses retail for $17, are meant to match with the lipsticks, and are also limited edition. The three lip liners retail for $17.50, are also meant to match with the lipsticks, but are permanent to the MAC line and are basically in limited edition packaging. The setting powder retails for $34.00 and is on my want to try list!
MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection: Packaging
As you can see from the photo, the packaging for the MAC x Patrick Starrr collection is very glam. Instead of the classic black lipstick bullet that MAC usually has the Patrick Woo lipstick comes with a white bottom, Patrick’s signature in a glitter font, and a silver cap. The lip liners have the signature towards the end of the liner so that you can get a lot of use out of the pencil before you start to cut into that signature. All of the packaging for this collection was very similar and from what I have seen was very well done. Comparing this lipstick bullet to other recent limited editions, the Mariah Carey and Trolls, this one felt more like it was worth the $17.50 price point and not like it should have been at the Dollar Tree. Seriously, the other two limited editions I mentioned feel very cheaply done and that is not the case with the Patrick Woo packaging. I think my only complaint for the packaging is that the silver caps LOVE to hold onto fingerprints!
MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection: Limited Edition?
Before we talk about the product itself lets talk about the elephant in the room, the reuse of permanent items in a limited edition collection. I know that some people have issues with this and at times I do as well, so let’s go over it shall we. My stance on permanent products being repackaged in limited edition packaging for a collection is that it’s not my favorite thing for companies to do, however, I can see why some companies do it. From there, I will purchase a permanent product that has been repackaged only under certain conditions; first the price can’t be higher than the normal price of the product, second that I don’t already have the product, and third the product actually makes sense to purchase. Now let’s address this particular collection and my thoughts. Due to the fact that Goalgetter contained four permanent shades I decided to straight skip that palette, especially since they are shades that I already own from other brands. Also due to Glam AF having three permanent shades out of four I skipped that as well. The shades that are permanent are ones that are popular like Amber Lights and Soft Brown in Goalgetter and Brule and Saddle in Glam AF. As for the liners, due to the fact that these are the same price as normal and easy to justify I totally recommend picking these up if in the limited edition packaging if you’re going to be picking them up. I was initially going to pick up all three, however, since I only picked up one of the lipsticks I decided to only pick up the one. I am thinking about trying to get the other two before they sell out though. Essentially, whether or not you want to purchase the non-limited editions in the special packaging is up to you and how you want to “justify” the purchases.
MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection: Review
If you haven’t figured it out already, I purchased the Patrick Woo Lipstick ($17.50 for 0.10 oz. at Saks or Ulta) and the Brick Lip Liner ($17.50 for 0.5 oz. at Saks or Ulta). The other two lipsticks were a pink and a pinkish brown, which I have a lot of so I decided to go with the red from the collection and I obviously went with the red lip liner because I chose the red lipstick. Starting with the lip liner, this applies EXTREMELY well and I am so glad that I decided to pick this up. As I previously mentioned, I’d love to get the other two before the collection goes off sale so that should speak to how much I liked it. As for the Patrick Woo lipstick, it just might be my favorite lipstick, liquid lipstick included, that I have at the moment. It applied really well, was super cream, lasted through a few meals, and stayed on for several hours. In all honesty, it also makes me want to get the other two from the collection as well. I haven’t been doing well with the MAC lipstick formula of late so the fact that this one was so good has me thankful!
MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection: Comparisons
Before we part ways for the day I wanted to show you how the Patrick Woo Lipstick compares to other red lipsticks in the MAC range that I own. Be prepared I don’t own many hence why I went with the red over the neutral shades. The first shade that I swatched is the MAC Red which a cool-red similar to Patrick Woo but a bit deeper in shade than Patrick Woo. The second swatch is MAC True Love’s Kiss from the Maleficent collection and it is a warmer red with a slight shimmer to it. Lastly, the third swatch is MAC Viva Glam Rihanna which is another cool-red with a frost finish. As you can see, Patrick Woo is brighter, more “classic” red shade while the others lean more deeper. So if Patrick Woo is a bit to bright for you, there are a few other options for you to choose from….if you can still find them (sorry about the inclusion of the limited edition shade).
Did you pick up anything from the MAC x Patrick Starrr Collection?

It’s a beautiful red, and the packaging looks like glittery goodness! I am assuming the lipstick is matte? If so, does it feel drying to you? I have dry lips, but I adore that shade. I think MAC lipsticks at $17.50 are so worth it
That’s such a pretty red lipstick!
I think that red would be way too bright for me, but kudos to PS for getting a collab like this!
Such great reds
I don’t wear red a lot but this looks so bright and fun!
That is such a pretty red! I love how bright and youthful it is.
I’m seriously considering buying the Patrick Woo. It’s such a pretty color. Plus, I’m a sucker for reds.
This is such a bright and happy red! I think MAC lipsticks don’t get the hype they deserve, they’re a great value for the price.
This looks like beautiful lipstick.
