I was provided the Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil and Wipes for review. However, all opinions are my own.
If you’ve been around for awhile then you know that I’ve come to love me some Dermalogica products. I’ve reviewed the Microfoliant and the Dynamic Skin Recovery on the blog. Having tried previous Dermalogica products, and loved them, I was a bit skeptical when I received these, I mean you can’t like every product from a company right?
The Dermalogica PreCleanse System works on the “Double Cleanse” system. With the Double Cleanse system you use a PreCleanse product to break down your stubborn makeup, it even breaks down products like sunscreen. Dermalogica’s reasoning behind this Double Cleanse system is that breaking down these itms before hand will give you a deeper more professional level of cleaning.
The Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil is an oil cleanser that helps break down products on your face. To use the Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil you start by putting some of the product into dry hands and then applying to a dry face. For a deeper clean you can add a little bit of water to the product on your face and continue rubbing until it forms a “milky emulsion”. You then rinse with warm water and continue with your skin care routine.
Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil Ingredients
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, PEG-40 Sorbitan Peroleate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Borago Officinalis Seed Oil, Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Solanum Lycopersicum (To-mato) Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Decyl Olive Esters, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Citral, Limonene, Linalool, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Cymbopogon Schoenanthus Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Nobilis (Mandarin Orange) Peel Oil, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben
If you’re a little iffy about the Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil then you can use the Dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes. The wipes are premoistened and work like any other makeup remover wipe, however, with the Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil once you’ve wiped the wipe over your face the first time you can wet it to activate it’s “emulsion” process and wipe it back over your face. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeazy. You of course would then follow up with your skin care routine.
Dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes Ingredients
Water/Aqua/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Neopentyl Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone, Dicaprylyl Ether, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoyl Apple Amino Acids, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Mentha Viridis Leaf Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Sodium PCA, Sodium Benzoate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Tocopherol, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Chloride, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Citral, Phenoxyethanol
I follow up my Dermalogica PreCleanse System with a cleanser, either Philosophy’s Purity or Michael Todd’s Oat Cleanser, and a moisturizer, always Embryolisse. Some things to note about the Dermalogica PreCleanse System is that they do have a bit of a scent to them but it’s not a perfume or harsh scent. The Dermalogica PreCleanse Oil smells like a mix of citrus and lavender, while the Dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes have just a citrus scent to them. It’s nothing that would keep me from using them. Also, the Also, you can buy the Dermalogica PreCleanse System as a large system (5.1 oz. Oil and 20 wipes) for $56.00, a small system (1 oz. oil and 20 wipes) for $28.00, the oil separately (5.1 oz. or 1 oz) for $38.00 or $10.00 respectively, and the wipes separately (20 wipes) for $18.00. Lastly, you should know that I LOVED both of these products. When I run out I will be purchasing more and I think the Dermalogica PreCleanse Wipes may become my go to wipes since my favorites aren’t sold anymore!
Robin (Masshole Mommy) says
I haven’t used any Dermalogica products myself, but everyone I have ever known that uses them really seems to love them.
Deb- It's me, debcb! says
Looks like a great product Cassie. Can you use it if you have oily skin?
Cassie says
For sure Deb, it doesn’t leave an oily residue or anything. Plus it’ll help break down any of those extra products that you might have on the skin to help with oily skin 🙂
Scott says
We’ve been experimenting with different wipes for our pre-teen daughters. Will check this brand out to see if it works with their skin.
Stacie @ Divine Lifestyle says

Kristen from The Road to Domestication says
I’m a huge fan of makeup-removing and skin-cleansing wipes, so that looks right up my alley!
Catherine S says
These sound like great products I can’t wait to try them. I am always using sunscreen and it is always a pain to wash it off.
Jennifer Williams says
I will check these out. I do not wear makeup but do use the cleansers. I love citrus and lavender – two of my favorite scents.
Phyrra says
These sound great! I wish they didn’t contain lavender oil. I love the Dermalogica products without lavender oil.
Chelsea says
I was doing a double cleanse system before I got these products as well using a different cleansing oil, and I’ve found that this one works just as well, if not better! And the travel wipes are a MUST have.
thelesleyshow says
I would love to see the ingredients in these. Looks like a good product. Sometimes it just takes someone to point it out to you! Thanks!
Cassie says
I just updated the post with ingredient lists for both products 🙂
kendall says
Oh, these sound great! Thanks for the review lady!
Michele says
Since I don’t wear makeup anymore-or t least very infrequently-I really would have no need for these two products. For those that wear full makeup daily–yes I can certainly see how it would make getting that makeup off a whole lot easier.
Laura (Lauras Little House Tips says
These seems like such a great product. I am fortunate that I make my own but have a few friends I can recommend to come check this out. I love how in depth you went. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Liz Mays says
Those wipes would be well used in my household. The oil and wipes combination sounds great for the nightly routine.
Katherine says
I don’t wear makeup but these look great for cleaning your face!
Mary Madalene says
What are some of the ingredients in the wipes itself? Any harsh chemical’s at all?
Cassie says
I know that they are made without any artificial fragrances, colors, or parabens. I did update the post with ingredient lists for both the wipes and the oil 🙂
Jeanine says
I learn so much from your blog. I always feel like I know nothing about make up and this kind of thing until I read here! I need to get some of this and most definitely the pads! The preCleanse system looks nice. I haven’t ever heard of this before! I think I need to play with make up more before I go getting this though!
Carly says
Whoa, those wipes look awesome!
Carmen Perez (listen2mama) says

I love makeup wipes! I’ve been using the Sephora brand, but I am always up for trying something new. I’m also really intrigued by the idea of the oil. I’m going to have to give this a shot.
R U S S says
I am a happy user of Dermatologica products. I like their stuff because surprisingly, they’re Asian-skin-friendly. I don’t get breakouts. I use their facial wipes before I start my entire facial cleaning routine.
Audrey (trihardmom) says
These dermatologica wipes look like a good idea to help remove stubborn make up. I find that the liquid eye liners and some mascaras are difficult to remove. I typically use ponds cold cream, but will have to look into these.
Cassie says
I actually haven’t used the Ponds Cold Cream to remove makeup before. It’s on my “Must Try List” though.
Brooke @ Blushing Noir says
I was so impressed with these products! I didn’t have high hopes for precleansing but my mind has been changed!

Digna D. says
This sounds great! I really need a good cleansing system for my skin. I don’t wear a lot of makeup, yet I have a hard time cleansing my skin when I do.
Tough Cookie Mommy says
I love Dermalogica products. They do a great job moisturizing and gently cleansing beautiful skin.
Nile says
I wonder how well these do on removing waterproof makeup. I always have some left after other wipes, and even a couple washings that I use a wet q-tip to wipe away the rest.
Cassie says
These actually do really well in helping breakdown waterproof makeup. It’s a precleanse system so you would still followup with your regular cleanser and then your moisturizer but this will help the cleanser to pull everything off in one go, and it gets the stuff deeper down in your pores.
rochkirstin says
I like products that promise double cleaning. I don’t want the makeup on my skin to build up over time and create signs of skin aging.
Shannon Gurnee says
I hadn’t heard of these products before. Sounds like something I would like to try out. Thanks for sharing.
Lynndee says
This is the first time that I’ve heard of these products. Sounds like something I need to really take a look at.
Cherri Megasko says
This sounds very interesting. I’m not sure I have ever heard of an oil facial cleanser before. It sounds counter-intuitive, doesn’t it?
Cassie says
While it does, cleaning oils (that are done right) can actually leave your face cleaner than other cleansers. And while the name oil leads one to believe it will leave your face oily most actually do not leave behind any residue.
CourtneyLynne says
Ahhhh I use to be Dermalogica obsessed when I was in college!!! Fantastic products 🙂 glad I don’t have problematic skin anymore so I don’t use it as much 😉
Erin says
I’m going to have to check out those wipes! I really rely on them to start my skin care routine.
Yona Williams says
First time hearing about this product line. I’m curious as to how the citrus + lavender scents smell. I usually don’t like a scented facial product.
Debbie Denny says
I have not heard of these. Sounds like a good product I could use.
Raya says
I would use this system for the whole family. My face looks like I’m sixteen, my teen looks like Braille, and my husband gets anxiety acne. I definitely will check this out!

I rarely make use of wipes – but this seems a good one and worth a try.
Chrissy Mazzocchi says
I love how these are made without any of the harsh stuff! I will definetley be trying these out!
Hollie says
It seems a few friends have been trying them out. My teen may be testing out some wipes soon, so I will have her give these a looksee.
Sarah @ Must Have Mom says
I’d never heard of dermalogica products before reading this! They look pretty awesome. Affordable, and they seem to work well! I don’t currently use a pre cleaner (had no clue I should) so maybe I need to check these out!
Amber says
I’m thinking I need to try this duo! I also have been wanting to try Embryolisse, which I spied in your pics! 😉
Cassie says
I LOVE my Embryolisse, it leaves my skin SO hydrated which is hard to do with my eczema.
lisa says
Hey,
This sounds very interesting. I’m not sure I have ever heard of an oil facial cleanser before. It sounds counter-intuitive, doesn’t it?
