As a beauty blogger I spend a lot of time at the drugstore, and if you’ve read my What’s In My Purse post, you know that that also means that I have a lot of loyalty cards. So as not to clutter my purse, past what’s already in there, I do try to use the loyalty apps whenever I can. One of my favorites, because of the clipless coupons, is the Walgreens app. Especially since the launch of the healthy choices function.
Have you heard of the healthy choices feature of the Walgreens app? First off, I should mention that signing up for the Walgreens app is completely free, as is use of the healthy choices function. Secondly the healthy choices function allows you to earn points for the healthy choices that you make in your life. The healthy choices part of the app partners with devices like the Fitbit and the Jawbone Up24 or apps like the MyFitnessPal. When using these devices to track your steps you can get 20 points per mile which can be redeemed on future purchases.
One of the things that I love about the healthy choices feature is that it partners with apps and devices that are popular and widely available. On top of the 20 points per mile that you get for running/walking you also get points for monitoring your blood pressure and blood glucose, both of which are highly important. So as you are making healthy choices in life, and allowing the app to track them, you will get rewarded with points being added to your account. Once you hit 5,000 points you’ll be able to redeem those for $5 off your next purchase.
If you’ve read any of the Slim Down Sundays series that I recently started on the blog then you know that lately I’m all about healthy choices. The Hubs and I are not only trying to eat healthier but we’re trying to exercise more as well. It’s easy to get disheartened when you don’t always have physical results to show for the hard work you’re doing. That is why I started using the Walgreens healthy choices in correlation with other items. As I’m racking up those points I can look back and see how much I really have done instead of just seeing that number on the screen. It also gives me a boost when I get up enough points that I can take a larger amount off of my order, instead of just the $5!
When I have racked up the points though, I personally use them towards little purchases for myself and other healthy choices in my lifestyle. In addition, I use the points as a reward for myself when I hit certain goals that I’ve been trying hard to obtain. For example, if I’m aiming for “Walk 50,000 steps in the week” (as an example) and I hit the 5,000 points for the $5 reward before I hit that goal, I’ll wait until I hit that goal before I get to go to the store. As a result, I will not only treat myself to some healthy items but to a beauty item or to as well. For this past haul I picked myself up two St. Ives bundle sets, an Essie nail polish, some trail mix, and a Balance Bar. I also made sure to use my Walgreens Balance Rewards card to take advantage of the fact that the Balance Bars were on sale for a $1!
I’m going to make sure to keep tracking my steps in the healthy choices function of the Walgreens app, and I think I’m also going to try out the blood pressure monitor feature when I go to the store later today, so that I can keep scoring those points to get me some money off my next purchase since I’m about to hit another goal! If you’re interested in finding out more about the Walgreens healthy choices program, click here. Did I mention, it’s FREE!
I have high blood pressure, so I like that feature of the app. I definitely need to download it.
i use my rewards for treats too. I love picking up new nail colors
This is a great program. It makes total sense that a store like Walgreens would release and app that lets you rack up points for savings by doing healthy things. I love it.
Sounds like a great (fun) app! Any time I’m rewarded for being healthier, I can commit. (And I run a lot of miles. Sign me up!) 🙂
When I entered my exercise minutes into my Nexercise app this morning they gave me a level up reward of having 20 points added to a walgreens card. I wish I had one closer! But it might be worth getting and then taking a drive for the goodies I earn.
what’s not to love about being rewarded for stuff you have to get anyway? i use the rewards for whatever i can . wrapping paper if possible.
Nice! I did not know there was an app! I thought it was just the card. I like to use my points to pay for my purchases.
I always reward myself for reaching health goals. I like that Walgreen’s is making it easier with this app.
I think it’s so cool that Walgreens has a rewards program that encourages healthy choices. Great idea!
I use my rewards for makeup – a little treat for me. I have to download this app.
That app looks pretty awesome!
See, another reason why I think Walgreens is so awesome. It’s nice to know a company cares so much about living a healthy life. I’ll have to share this.
I love this and will definitely download the app! With the mileage I run each week, I’ll be able to rack up the savings in no time! Another way that exercise benefits you!
I love Walgreens! I’ve been doing their Healthy Choices on their website but had no clue it was also on their app! I will have to check it out1

The healthy choices program sounds great. I like that Walgreens is taking proactive measures to help us keep up with our health. The example of the blood pressure machine giving points is a great one. It’s smart to catch things ahead of time, and something easy like that is a great way to help.
I love how many apps there are out there! This is one I will certainly check out!
It is so important to stay active! I have this app and already begun tracking!

I really like Walgreens and their healthy choices options and app. I also love that the minute you leave the store they say “Be Well.” You have reminded me though, it’s time to check and see how my balance reward points I have.
