Nicole by OPI put out a new set of polishes called Roughles earlier in the year. The Roughles polishes are a speckled texture polish that dry with a matte finish. Roughles are different from other textured polishes in that they have dark speckles inside of the lighter polish which adds a nice cooler variation to your your nails. This particular shade is the Nicole by OPI Roughles On What Grounds.
One Coat
On What Grounds applied fairly well. If you like a lighter nail polish you could get away with one coat of this polish. However, a second coat really does make the color pop a bit better and a second coat always fills any in bare spots that you might have had.
Two Coats
This polish lasted a long time and didn’t chip for several days. Textured polishes are meant to be worn without a top coat and therefore dry matte. This is what the polish looks likes without a top coat. As you can see it has a bit of a grainy look to it, and will have a grainy feel when you touch it and that is normal.
However, not everyone likes a textured matte polish. If you don’t like the feel of those kind of polishes but love the look of the Nicole by OPI Roughles On What Grounds you can just pop a coat of top coat over your nails for that glossy feel. I used my favorite top coat Seche Vite which dries super fast and makes my manicure’s last even longer.
Overall I really liked the Nicole by OPI Roughles On What Grounds polish and am actively hunting for the other three that came in the collection. If you find these in your local stores you should make sure to pick one up and give it a try!

I like the look of it on other people, but I find that I pick at textured polishes when I wear them myself.

I like the color of this polish but I have a hard time with the feel of textured polishes. I would definitely need to put a top coat on it!

I LOVE the color of that polish, like love love, but I’ve never been a fan of the rough/textured finish of these kinds of polishes. I also really am not into matte polishes, so I always pile on the shiny topcoat after I paint on matte polishes haha. I wonder if Nicole by OPI has another shade that is this same color but no texture? Hmmm!

I think these Roughles will take some getting used to. I could totally see myself picking at the grainy pieces poking out. The color is gorgeous though and it’s great to hear that it has a nice coverage despite being kind of light.

That is a FUN color!! Ohh, and by the way — I’m with you on the Seche Vite Top Coat!!!!!! That is the ONLY kind I will use. Dries super fast and makes your manicure looks flawless and smooth as glass.

I have this nail polish but haven’t used it yet! It’s nice to know what it is going to look like before hand. I like the fact that it has a texture to it.
My girls would like this a lot. I will have to show them this color. Looks almost like a robin’s egg. I don’t wear much nail polish on my fingers, but I do on my toes.
I’v e not bought the textured nail polishes yet. But they look so amazing. I’m going to have too soon.
