Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel in Clear on southeastbymidwest.com #beautyblogger #bblogger #beautyreview #review

When I first started wearing makeup I didn’t even think about doing anything with my brows. As I became more experienced I learned about filling them in with eye pencils, then with shadow, and finally using brow gels to tame them. At first I was incredibly naive and thought that just any old clear mascara would do the trick, however, I quickly learned the difference between a clear mascara and a brow gel. BUT does that mean that you need to go out and purchase an expensive product meant just for your brows, like the $22 Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel? Lets find out.

Application

To start off with the brush area of the wand on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel is shorter and the bristles are a bit more corse than your average mascara bristles. This makes it easier to comb the gel THROUGH the hairs of your brows instead of just shellacking the gel on top. The brush also doesn’t have any bristles on top, instead they just wrap around the wand. I find that this helps keep me from trying to use the end to just slick down my brows. I actually have to use the wand to brush the hairs the direction they need to go, which winds up looking more natural.

Color

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel comes in both a tinted version and a clear version. I choose to purchase the clear version to test out to see if I liked it before trying one of the tinted. I have noticed that, for me, when I use clear brow gels that don’t last through the day that midway through they start crusting in my brows and I have to windup cleaning up my brows throughout the day. I don’t know if this is just me or if it happens with others as well. I mention it because the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel goes on clear and stays that way throughout the day.

Score: 10 out of 10

Feel

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel goes on like your typical brow gel, however, it doesn’t get thick or goopey. Another thing to mention is that after the gel dries on your brows it doesn’t leave them feeling dry or crispy, they still feel like normal natural brows just more in place.

Lasting Power

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel has some excellent staying power. I live in South Carolina and it gets hot and humid here during the summer. This brow gel with stood the heat and sweat of me running errands all day in both South Carolina and Georgia and my brows were never once out of place. It even lasted through scattered thunderstorms and a 10-hour day.

All-in-all trying out the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel to review has truly made me a believer in not only brow specific products but quality brow specific products. I will not only be keeping the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel in my makeup routine but I will also be trying out more of their products in the future.

I’ll have to check this out! I have been using a brow pencil but it tends to fade so quickly, especially in this NC heat!

They have a tinted version that you can use to replace the pencil OR this works great to just set over that pencil and to keep it from fading so fast. And I know all about that NC heat. We use to live in Warrenton (around Louisburg) and the heat and humidity is a makeup wearers worst enemy lol.

Thanks! I’ll definitely check it out!!

We just moved to the Charlotte area two months ago. I was told it’s been much hotter the past two months than it normally is for the area (of course!!) I’m a redhead and not a fan of heat and humidity, so I’m sure I will have a lovely summer! lol

A brow gel can help them all go straight if you find that you have some throughout the day that go wonky from you touching your face. It’s also good to have on hand in case you have to miss your wax appointment. Using a brow gel to tame them down will buy you a few extra days if you just can’t get there in time 🙂

I don’t even go near my brows with Tweezers or anything. It’s not because I don’t know what I’m doing but I mean c’mon that looks painful as all get out lol. Instead I just make sure to use my brow gel to tame and I use my brow powder to fill in when needed.

I feel that everyone, even people who groom their brows, should have a brow gel of some kind (even a generic). You never know when they’re going to go unruly and that’s just not good 😉

I have such sad eye brows. They are sparse and blonde so you really can’t see them. I can use a pencil to shade them in a little but it doesn’t help much. 🙁

    • Cassie says

      June 19, 2014 at 6:08 pm

I know a few others with that problem. Usually what works best, especially if you don’t want to dye them, is layering. Start with a powder that is close in shade to your brow, then use a pencil to put in a few flicks that look like hairs, then top with a TINTED gel instead of a clear one. The slow buildup of color will be gradual enough that it will look natural once done. You should go into a Sephora and have them show you how to fill in your brows to see what shades you should use. You don’t have to buy what they suggest but it will give you a starting point 🙂

I am totally a brow gel fan. I get my brows waxed or threaded for a clean look that isn’t bare and keeping them in place is important. I waited too long to get waxed last time and looked like a total yeti!

Exactly! That’s why I always tell people to keep brow gel in their makeup stash even if they groom. You don’t want to spend all that money getting them to a certain shape for a few brows to go crazy in the weather and have you looking like Oscar the Grouch or something lol

It helps them lay down. So instead of the hairs going every which way it makes them lay down and go in one direction so they look smooth and tamed.
