If you were here yesterday, you may have now pieced together that this week has a lot of subscription box unboxings. I have some things going on in my non-blogging life so the September Birchbox Unboxing had to be moved to the beginning of October. Apologies for that. However, if you still want to see what I got in my September Birchbox, just keep scrolling.
About the Birchbox Subscription
Before we get into what was in my September Birchbox, I want to talk for a second about the Birchbox subscription. Birchbox is a monthly subscription that contains mostly beauty products but sometimes lifestyle products are included as well. Originally the subscription was either month-to-month or you paid for a three-month, six-month, or one-year subscription upfront. However, now the subscription is done either month-to-month, six-month, or one-year but if you do either the six-month or one-year you pay month-to-month but are locked into that six-month or one-year commitment. Lastly, you can purchase the full size of the products in your Birchbox through the Birchbox store.
R+Co Prep Spray
The first product in my September Birchbox was the R+Co One Prep Spray. This is a hair product that is a heat protectant but also helps other products stick better.
Arrow Eye Serum
The next product in my September Birchbox was the Arrow Under Eye Brightening Serum in Fair. This is an eye serum that can also double as a concealer.
Onekind Moisturizer
The next product in my September Birchbox was the Onekind Dream Cream Nighttime Moisturizer. This is a non-greasy nighttime moisturizer.
Balance Me Mask
The next product in my September Birchbox was the Balance Me AHA Glow Mask. This is a 15-minute mask that is supposed to give the skin a glow.
This Works Lotion
The last product in my September Birchbox was the This Works Stress Check Kind Hands. This is a hand cream that contains shea butter and Vitamin E.

Final Thoughts on the September Birchbox Unboxing
As you can see from the table above, the September Birchbox had an extremely low monetary value. For me, it also had a very low personal value. The only product that I will probably use is the This Works Lotion, however, I will probably wind up just giving it to the Hubs. With last month’s box also being a bit of a dud, Birchbox is on the chopping box. I am set to renew my one-year commitment in either November or December. Essentially, Birchbox has either one or two months to just wow me.

unfortinately, this wasnt the most exciting box — but we know this happens with sub boxes. My last ipsy box was a dud. Actually a couple of them which is why I don’t even share them. I need to get back to boxycharm – that one seems the best lately.

What a bummer! Too often subscription boxes give a lot of deluxe samples that you could get free with purchases. I had drawers and drawers filled with a lot of these sizes, and the ones that I didn’t use for travel eventually just got tossed out.

Considering how things have evolved since beauty boxes started I’m surprised that Birchbox hasn’t upped their game. This is a nice enough skincare box but nothing that wows.

I agree that the excitement value of the September Birchbox wasn’t there. I wasn’t familiar with most of the brands, except for R+Co. Nevertheless, if I got these, I would probably use them all except for the Balance Mask since the word “balance” usually makes me think for oily skin. Based on this box, I would probably not resubscribe.
