Today is day two of Makeup Geek Week, check out day one here, and we’re talking about the Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle today. Sadly, this is no longer available on the site but I wanted to cover it anyway so that you know what to expect if one comes up again. Luckily though I was able to get my hands on one for “Light Skin Tone” and can tell you what all comes in it that way you can keep an eye out for another mystery bundle! To see what all came in the Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle just keep scrolling.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Details
Before we get into what all came in the Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle let’s talk about the details of the bundle. The bundle was done before Halloween as a “Trick that was really a treat”. It promised a full-face of makeup inside of a reusable collector’s box. The only thing that you got to choose was whether you were Light, Medium, or Deep skin toned and from there Makeup Geek would choose the highlighter, bronzer, contour, eyeshadow, and lip product for you. You would get 9 products that value $100 for only $50!
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Box
As I just mentioned, the Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle comes in a reusable collector’s box that is unavailable to purchase on the site. I’ve actually seen this box in PR packages that some of the big YouTubers received when Makeup Geek released a line of their lip products. When the lip products were launched on the site you could also purchase the full set in the collector’s box for a limited time. However, it is currently not available on the site. It is a rectangular box that nicely hold all nine of the products snugly but without making it a fight to get them out. The box is black with black Makeup Geek logos all over it and an inner portion that is rose gold, the inner portion is not removable. The lid itself is black with a rose gold Makeup Geek logo on it. I plan on using this for either liners or brushes on my vanity.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Highlighter
The highlighter I received is Makeup Geek Midnight Sun. As you can see, this is actually a full-size compact highlighter that is currently out of stock on the website but when in stock it retails for $20. The shade is a soft champagne with a luminous finish and is listed as being good for fair skin tones.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Bronzer
The bronzer I received is Makeup Geek Sunkissed. As you can see, this is also a full-size compact bronzer that retails for $22. The shade is a light tan that adds just a hint of warmth to the skin for fair skin tones.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Blush
The blush I received is Makeup Geek Heart Throb. This blush is pan blush which can be placed in either the Makeup Geek Travel Vault or any other magnetic palette. The blush retails for $10 and is salmon brown with a matte finish. According to the site it is also suitable for fair skin tones.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Contour
The contour powder I received is Makeup Geek Complicated and is another pan powder. This contour is a cool powder and is listed as being best suited for medium skin tones…I think someone made a mistake on this one, I could have made a highlighter for medium skin tones work but I don’t know about a contour powder, we’ll have to see. Anywho, this retails for $4!
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Lip
The lip product I received is Makeup Geek Plush Matte in Soccer Mom. This is, obviously, a matte liquid lipstick in pinky-nude or “Your Lips But Better” shade that retails for $12.
Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle Shadows
The four eyeshadows that I received were Mocha – Matte Brown, Glamorous – Shimmer Bronze / Gold, Wild West – Matte Rose Brown, Peach Smoothie – Matte Peach. Each Makeup Geek pan shadow is $6 and the colors chosen are pretty good for making a look. Sadly though, although not for one of you!, two of the colors I received, Mocha and Glamorous, were in the Makeup Geek Start Kit Bundle I talked about on Monday. So check out the giveaway below if you would like to try to win these two shadows!
Review of Makeup Geek Mystery Bundle
Before we talk about the giveaway let’s talk about what I thought of the bundle overall. I love that it came with the collector’s box and I love that I got some products that I probably wouldn’t have purchased for myself (not going to lie I probably wouldn’t have purchased a bronzer or contour). I didn’t like that the contour powder is probably going to be 2 – 3 shades to dark for me and that two of the shadows I already have but the shadow thing is what you get when you signup for a mystery box BUT the contour issue could have been avoided as I choose LIGHT and got a contour powder for MEDIUM. All that being said, I think the Mystery Bundle is a great way to either get into Makeup Geek products or to build your collection up if you’re just starting out with Makeup Geek. This probably wouldn’t be a great idea for someone who either already has a huge Makeup Geek collection or receives a lot of their products in PR. I do highly recommend it for those of you just getting in or who don’t have a lot of their products though!
Giveaway
Now remember these shadows are loose pans so you’ll need to either have a magnetic palette or be willing to purchase one on your own. For my cruelty free readers Tarte has one that you can get for $10 at Ulta, purchase here, and of course Makeup Geek has the Travel Vault that you can get for $13, purchase here. For my non-cruelty free readers MAC has the PRO palette that you can purchase without inserts and without being a PRO member for $8, purchase here!

The Makeup Geek Box looks like a great set to have. I loved the collectable box and the compact with bronzer. I will keep looking for more Makeup geek products where I shop.
This sounds fun, although I am not sure how I feel about the mystery aspect of it. The colors are really nice though.
You always find interesting products! Of course, these were in a mystery box! I am not a bronzer user, but maybe one day.
I like some of the colors and shades of the makeup included in your mystery bundle. Bundles seem to be worth the cost, considering what’s in them.
I have never heard of make up geek brand make up. I would love to have a buildable pallet with all the colors I want and use. I sometimes end up doing make up in the car so the fewer things I have to pack up, the better.
What a great giveaway! I’ll have to share this with my daughter because she loves makeup! These colors are really great.
I’m sorry I missed the Mystery Bundle. It’s such a great idea. You never know what you will get in a box like this but I’m really impressed with the amount of products for the price point.
These look like such great products! I really need to try them as I have been looking for new makeup!!
I didn’t even know they did a mystery box, that is really neat. I would probably be nervous to buy it not really knowing, but I do love MUG products.
How fun, this sounds like such a fun box of cool things to receive. I really like that you are also doing a giveaway! Thanks! YAY!. the lipstick color is gorgeous
This looks like a great box. I’m loving the bronzer and the lip product. I really like this brand. Makeup Geek has good quality products.
A mystery bundle pack sounds so fun! I just love the luxury of make up and beauty supplies!
I have never heard of this brand, but I will have to give it a shot! Our oldest is starting soccer this winter so that Soccer Mom lip color might be just for me. 😉
What a great way to start building a collection. Thank you so much for your honest feedback!
I can see the box being a handy way to get started – especially with the whole blusher/bronzer/highlighter/contour array! (Though I share your dismay about the contour – I am very fair, and that color would never work on me.) Must be fun to open!
This is an awesome “mystery” box. I love the neutrals for everyday wear!
These items look so so good! I feel like the bundle bronzer would look really great!
Mystery bundles always make me nervous when it comes to makeup because I don’t know what to expect, but this is such a cute combo!
I had never heard of this brand before. A mystery bundle sounds so much fun. I would love to sign up for one of these myself.
These all look so pretty! I wish it was still available. I’ve been needing to expound my make up supply. I’ll be entering this giveaway!

I would love to try their lip products and brushes
I love the idea of a mystery box for makeup, because it would allow me to try colors and products I might not usually pick out for myself.
I really love the midnight sun highlighter :).
