Not to long ago I started noticing some of my fellow beauty YouTubers and bloggers posting about a mirror that was quite big and could also analyze the skin of the user. As more people started posting about it I got more and more intrigued so I was SUPER excited when I was chosen as one of the beauty YouTube / Blogger to talk about the HiMirror as well. While I will be telling you a bit about the HiMirror here, do make sure to check out the video below as well because it will have tons more information in it!
HiMirror Mirror Function
As you can see the HiMirror serves as a fairly large mirror. The HiMirror can either be used on a vanity with an easel, this is the one in the picture above, if you’re wanting a more close-up experience. The HiMirror can also be mounted on a mirror or wall with either screws or mounting tape. The thing to note about the HiMirror is that it does need to be eye level and it can not stand on a vanity by itself.
HiMirror Privacy Notes
I think one of my favorite functions of the HiMirror is the closing camera. Awhile back there was a show that made EVERYONE afraid of the cameras on their computers and laptops. I can’t count the number of YouTube videos and SnapChats that I watched where people had pieces of paper over their webcams. Due to this I knew that a camera on the HiMirror would be a bit of a problem for some people. I am soooo happy that the camera actually has a setting of being completely closed for those who want that extra bit of privacy.
Another bit of privacy on the HiMirror is that your profile is locked by face recognition so that only you have access to your information. While this may not be important for some, especially those who are keeping the HiMirror on a vanity, for others who may be using it in a bathroom with multiple users this is good because no one else’s scans will mess with their skin analysis.
HiMirror Skin Analysis
My absolute favorite feature of the HiMirror is the innovative skin analysis feature. the way that this feature works is that the mirror reads your skin and tells you where you rank with wrinkles, dark circles, fine lines, red spots, dark spots, and overall complexion. As you work on the different problem areas that you have, the graph will change overtime, letting you see how you are doing.
The way that the HiMirror analyzes the different aspects is by taking a photo of the users face and analyzing the photo. As you can see from the photo above, this is done by filling the screen with the users face before taking the photo, hence why the mirror needs to be at eye level. When the HiMirror goes to take the photo you’ll close your eyes so that A. the light on the camera doesn’t flash in the eyes causing squinting but also B. so that the areas around the eyes can be analyzed as well. Make sure before doing a scan that your skin is free of any makeup as having any on would defeat the purpose!
Once the photo is taken the HiMirror will essentially draw circles around the problem areas so that you will know exactly where you need to target. When ever you want to check in on the progress of your skin care, just go in and have the HiMirror reanalyze the skin again.
HiMirror Mobile App
Since I just mentioned working on target areas, now would be a great time to talk about keeping track of the products that you are using to do so. The HiMirror Mobile App, available on Android and iPhone, allows you to add products to your beauty box that you are currently using in your skin care routine. This is important to do so that you know if the products are actually helping or not.
Now I do want to mention that due to the HiMirror being a fairly new product, released in October 2016, not everything is listed in the product database. To add a product to your Beauty Box you can just scan the barcode, however, if you scan the product and the barcode isn’t yet in the system you’ll be prompted to add it with a photo of the product and what the product is used for (i.e. makeup remover specific, makeup remover face, moisturizer, etc.).
HiMirror Extras
In addition to the mirror function and the skin care analysis function, the HiMirror also has a few extra functions as well. One of those functions is the radio function. I remember when reviews were first coming out about the HiMirror that the radio selection wasn’t that great. However, in the few months that the HiMirror has been out they have added several radio stations from different states and I believe they are currently working on adding Spotify support as well!
While there are other functions of the HiMirror the last one that I want to focus on is the Body and Fitness function which goes along with the Smart Body Scale accessory. My Smart Body Scale came with a mat to place it into allowing for a more comfortable stand. Beside the comfort, the Smart Body Scale connects with the HiMirror to track and analyze your weight, BMI, body fat, water level content, bone weight, muscle mass, resting metabolism, and body type.
HiMirror Final Thoughts
As you can see the HiMirror is more than just a mirror, it’s really a personal beauty system or an at-home beauty consultant that can help you to meet your beauty goals, and at $189 for the basic mirror (what I have here) and $259 for the adjustable light version it needs to be! That being said, $189 is really a bargain for the amount of things that the HiMirror can track and do. If nothing else the HiMirror is worth the price tag for making sure the amount of money being spent on skin care is worth it! In all honesty, if I had not been selected to review the HiMirror then I probably would have wound-up purchasing it on my own around my birthday! I think you should think about purchasing one as well.

That is the absolute coolest! I can’t believe there’s a mirror that can actually help you take care of your skin!

I was so intrigued when I first saw it!
Colleen Lanin says
That is so neat. I love that the camera can be turned off. I don’t have that worry, but I have some friends who are absolutely paranoid about it.
Cassie says
I’m the same way and I also have friends who are STRICT about it. They won’t sit in front of my laptop without putting a piece of paper on it! Knowing that there are people with that fear I’m glad that HiMirror added that ability to the camera.

I saw this on your Instagram and was really intrigued. I love that it can determine what your facial problem areas are so you can work on improving them. What an awesome mirror!
Cassie says
It actually identified redness that I didn’t even realize I had, essentially what was slight underlying redness. Now that I know about it I can color correct when I’m putting on makeup and it’s left my makeup looking even better.

I can’t wait for the Spotify feature to be enabled so that I can listen to music while I do my makeup and skin care.

Technology really is amazing!
This product looks fantastic – like a home coach – impressed with the individual log-in recognition among many other features.
Cassie says
Technology really has come a long way. I think the individual log-in was a fantastic idea on HiMirror’s part.

Happy new year to you as well! I had the same thoughts when I first saw it. I totally felt like Jane or Judy when I first started using it.
Tracy @ Ascending Butterfly says
I have had the opportunity to have skin analysis at various beauty events and tradeshows, so far they are all conflicting, so I am curious about what kind of skin analysis results this one would yield.
Cassie says
I have actually had the same problem but instead of at events it was at different beauty stores. When I first started blogging one store told me I had oily skin and a different store told me I had combination leaning towards oily…I have dry skin leaning towards eczema! The mirror tells me that my skin is to dry. I’m hoping that they’ll get into a store that will allow you to go in and test it out before buying.
