It has become a tradition that during the holidays people gift each other pets. I tend to think that people do this because they have so much love in their lives that they want to bring someone / something else into the circle of love. Usually it’s couples giving to one another, a parent giving to their child(ren), or someone just adopting a pet on their own. If you’re not in that immediate circle you may feel left out of this joyous time, however, I have the perfect DIY Gift Basket for New Pets that will allow you to give the best gift basket to someone getting a new pet for the holidays!
Obviously the gift giver of the new pet is going to get the essentials like eating dishes and puppy pads…and if they didn’t then the receiver of the new pet may want to choose them themselves. However, one thing that might get skipped in the rush is a treat jar! Now of course the receiver may want to choose one that matches a motif that they’re going with BUT as an owner of one dog I can honestly tell you that one treat jar is never enough! Plus a treat jar that says the treats are from “Santa Paws” is a must during the holidays!
Speaking of the holidays…a holiday pet themed ornament would be a perfect item to include in this DIY Gift Basket. Again, this might be something that gets missed in the rush and while it won’t be on the tree long they’ll have it when they go to put the tree up next year and this will be the pet’s first ornament!
Speaking of something that might get forgotten in the rush…a hanger for the leash and / or collar. This is something that really is a must even though it may not seem like it. An area specifically dedicated to the pet’s leash and collar will help to potty train them, especially if the receiver will have to walk the pet. When the owner goes to the hanger then the pet will immediately know what time it is. A lot of people may not think of this and you thought to include it in your DIY Gift Basket, how genius are you?!
The last thing that you should include in your DIY Gift Basket is a cleaner of some kind…even if the giver thinks to grab some you’re going to want to include extra because with a new puppy they’re going to need it! The cleaner that I suggest is the STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover because it helps to remove stubborn pet stains which new puppies will inevitably leave and it helps to remove odor as well. To go along with the removing stains and odor it also helps to repeal dirt without leaving a residue! Best of all? It not only can be used on puppy accidents but on human ones as well! Coffee, juice, ketchup, and more can be cleaned with the STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover. Now you may want to make a little card to pop on the bottle with the simple instructions just so that they don’t have to read all that fine print! The instructions are below if you want to copy and paste them for a card!
- Spray: Liberally on stained area
- WAIT: Leave on for 3-5 minutes
- BLOT: Dampen area with water and blot with paper towel or cloth to remove stain
One thing that I do want to mention about the STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover is that you won’t actually find it in the pet section, instead you’ll actually need to look in the cleaning aisle of your local Target. At the Aiken, SC Target, where I picked mine up at, our cleaning section is actually located in the very back of the store which was great because it allowed me to pick up everything else on the way! Now if you don’t know where the cleaning aisle is located at your store make sure to ask an associate as they’ll be more than happy to help you! Note that STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover is not available in all Target stores so if your store doesn’t stock the remover, click here to purchase the STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover online and have it shipped to your home or to your local Target! Don’t forget to add your Cartwheel coupon to get 15% off as well!
So there you have everything you can include to make a great DIY Gift Basket for someone receiving a new pet. Just to recap you’ll want to include a treat jar, an ornament, a hanger, a cleanser, and a cute basket that the owner can use to hold toys after taking everything else out. This is a basket that a new pet owner will be super appreciative to have and will allow you to be included as well! Let me know in the comments below what else you would include in this DIY Gift Basket and from our pet home to yours:
