I’m not ashamed to admit that during the winter I rarely shave my legs. I’m not wearing shorts and a little extra hair adds some warmth. This year Spring has come a bit early to South Carolina and that means it’s time to break out the shorts and the razors.
I’m not even going to lie when SheSpeaks asked if I wanted to review the Gillette Venus Swirl and I realized what it was I jumped at the chance. I bought my husband the Gillette ProGlide last summer and he absolutely loves it so I figured that the Gillette Venus Swirl would be similar.
Of course once I got the Gillette Venus Swirl out of the package, before I even put the blades on, you know I had to test to see if it really did swivel like the animation above. It did but it was a little stiff, however, once I applied the blades the motion became much smoother and I couldn’t wait to use it!
If the swivel action of the Gillette Venus Swirl didn’t have me ready to try the Gillette Venus Swirl then reading about the blades would have. The blade head of the Gillette Venus Swirl totes a new Microfine Comb, five Contour blades, and the blue strips are a MoistureGlide Serum that is water activated. Yep I was sold.
The real question though was to stick with my old shaving cream, a cheap one from Walmart, or go with the Gillette Venus Olay Violet Swirl Shaving Cream that was sent with the Gillette Venus Swirl. Seeing as how I have eczema and the one I normally use is for sensitive skin so it doesn’t irritate the eczema as much I was all set to go with my normal shaving cream.
However, when I tested the product on the back of my hand for the pictures for this post I fell in love with not only how creamy the texture of the Gillette Venus Olay Violet Swirl Shaving Cream was but also how moisturizing it felt not only sitting on my skin but after I wiped it off. When I looked back at the packaging and realized that was because it had 5 times the moisturizers in it I knew I had to try this with the Gillette Venus Swirl.
Having eczema you go into shaving knowing that you’re going to have some nicks, so when you have a shaving experience with hardly any you’re wowed…when you have none you’re down right shocked. The Gillette Venus Swirl did such a great job of adjusting around my knees and any flareups I had but it still got all the hairs! My legs were so smooth afterwards and I had no nicks. I’ve already added replacement blades for the Gillette Venus Swirl to my grocery list.

Wow, this razor looks great, I love how it’s able to swivel! I have used Venus razors before and they work awesome.
I’ve been using Venus forever because they last forever! I haven’t tried the new venus swirl, but I will definitely be buying it for summer. I shave every other day year round because I can’t stand the way hairy legs feel against the sheets at night. 🙂
that looks like one mean razor that would do the job very well. No nicks is a good thing.

The Venus razor is the one I always use – will have to try this one with the swivel!! And I only shave like once a month. Benefits of having really light hair!! lol

I don’t blame you of not shaving on winter- I bundled-up like eskimo so nothing really to worry those cold months. I’m just thankful I don’t shave my legs and that’s one think being an asian girl that I have no hair at my legs if there some its visible and no reason to shave at all.
I should definitely look into trying out one of those razors. If I get one, Ill have to go with the violet swirl for shaving cream!

I’m so glad I’m not the only woman who opts to not shave her legs in the winter. Just call me Chewbacca, haha. I always use Gilllette Venus razors because they are the best for my sensitive skin, I can’t wait to find this new model!

While I don’t really shave ( thanking mom for her genes, practically hairless ) I do love the way this product is designed. It looks very girlie and not the usual scary-looking razor. The flexiball – swirl feature makes it a lot more functional.
Love Gillette razors. They simple are the best razors on the market. Used this brand for many many years. After I shave my skin is so smooth. Love using them!

I am in love with the design of this razor – I think it is incredibly sleek and attractive-looking. I don’t shave my legs at all, but my confession is that I take my time with the underarm hair. Sometimes, life gets so hectic, I forget.

I’ve used a Venus for years, but I’ve never tried the Swirl model. If and when mine breaks I will give the Swirl a whirl!

I have to admit that I’m a soap and razor kinda gal instead of shaving cream/ gel. I also have a skin condition on my one leg that only allows me to shave it once before I have to toss it so I am always using the disposable! You seemed to really like this though and I’m glad you found it!
