I’ll tell you a secret, the Hubs and I don’t throw a lot of parties. That means that when we do entertain it can be a bit hectic. With the “Big Game” (you know the one I’m talking about) tomorrow that throws even more pressure to make sure we throw the perfect party. Here are a few Big Game Party Tips that I find help our parties go a bit smoother.
Big Game Party Tips #1: Make Plating Work for You
We found this Nacho Tray at a store, so long ago that I don’t even remember where, and have never used it until I had a brilliant idea. If we pop the meat in the middle we can put all the other taco ingredients around the outer section. Refilling the meat as people use it is super easy as the middle section just pops right out to take back to the kitchen for quick refills.
Big Game Party Tips #2: Offer Variety
Whenever we’re serving tacos or nachos at a party we always make sure that we have a variety of “vessels” for people to choose from. Old El Paso has quite a few different taco shells and kits that can be purchase relatively cheap so that’s what we went with this. Pictured above are soft shells from the “Hard and Soft Shells” Dinner Kit and the “Nacho Cheese Stand ‘n Stuff” shells but we also had regular hard shells, regular hard shell Stand ‘n Stuff shells and the new Stand ‘n Stuff soft taco shells.
Big Game Party Tips #3: Different Food Types
Just in case there were people who either don’t care for tacos or had already eaten dinner we like to offer appetizers as well. We keep with variety on these as well and offer different options for people who like appetizers to enjoy. We also keep different toppers on hand for them as well like spaghetti sauce to go with the mozzarella sticks and sour cream to go with the potato skins.
Big Game Party Tips #4: Sweets
We always like to offer sweets when we have a party because it seems like they’re something that just about everyone likes. We provided two different types of cupcakes this year, homemade and store bought. For the homemade cupcakes we went with the team playing in the Big Game this year (can you guess which one), that the Hubs is pulling for. We actually picked up some Pillsbury Funfetti Cake Mix in Aqua Blue and a couple of cans of cupcake icing while we were at the store to make the cupcake pictured above.
If you’re not a baker you can always pickup some store bought cupcakes, we actually did both to make sure that we have enough (hey no shame in my game). We found these “Big Game” themed cupcakes at Publix and snapped them up.
Big Game Party Tips #5: Sales
Before heading to the store to purchase all the things that you’re going to need make sure to check for any sales and coupons. We found that the cupcakes were $3.99 and the different Old El Paso taco items were 20% off at Publix! Plus Publix currently has $1 off coupon for Old El Paso.

These tips are really great! I love offering variety at parties. Tonight I hosted a cookie swap part for some of my sweet friends, and I made sure to have a wide range of snacks to that everyone could find something they liked! 🙂
