I don’t know about you but at our house this time of the year is crazy. We’re running around getting presents for everyone, mailing out Christmas cards, helping out and attending different local events and still keeping up with each other and the blog. Due to it being such a busy time of the year when we decide to splurge and have sweets we like them to not only be quick and easy but delicious as well. A favorite of ours is cookies and ice cream and today I’m sharing with you our favorite Holiday Cookies and Ice Cream.
Our current favorite holiday cookies and ice cream are Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Candies and HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars, specifically in caramel vanilla pizzelle. The peanut butter and the chocolate of the cookies work really well with the coarse sea salt that they are topped with, I promise it really does taste good, and all of that partners even better with the HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars.
I love partnering the two of these together because I like the taste of milk and ice cream and I find that having the HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars is so much easier than having a bowl of ice cream that I’m eating with a spoon while enjoying my cookie. Plus, I find that the HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars let me portion control what I’m eating without going overboard. The Hubs on the other hand likes to cut portions of the HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars off the stick and put them on his cookie like an ice cream sandwich.
I mentioned before that we specifically prefer the caramel vanilla pizzelle Gelato Bars. The caramel vanilla pizzelle have a “creamy vanilla gelato with 2 golden caramel ribbons, fully dipped in milk chocolate & crunchy Italian style pizzelle cookie pieces.” When I first saw these in the stores I purchased them for the sake of curiosity because what really is an Italian style pizzelle cookie piece? While I did find out that a pizzelle is an Italian waffle cookie it really didn’t matter because whatever it was it was absolutely delicious against the milky gelato and sweet caramel. All three of these go remarkably well with the peanut butter, chocolate candies, and the sea salt of the cookies.
Speaking of the cookies, I told you about them and I bet you’re probably wondering where I got those. They’re actually homemade! That’s right this post is my first EVER food recipe on the blog. This recipe is actually one that Travis came up with and it is for Peanut Butter and Chocolate Candy Cookies. All the ingredients and the directions are below and I do want to point out that some of them are to taste. What this means is that, for example, the honey you can use the smaller amount, the larger amount, an amount in between or none at all depending on your taste preferences. Also, you’re free to use whatever peanut butter you like but I will mention that not all peanut butters are created equal and that different peanut butters will effect the taste and density of the cookies.

Another thing that I love about the holiday cookies and ice cream is not only how quick and easy they are to make but how quick and easy they are to shop for! We picked up all the ingredients for the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Candy Cookies and the HÄAGEN-DAZS® Gelato Bars at our local Walmart in a 5 minute trip! That’s almost unheard of during the holiday season.
Oh yum! Those holiday cookies look so delicious and so does that Haagen Dazs ice-cream. I’d love both for a movie night 🙂
HÄAGEN-DAZS is my FAVORITE ice cream (there isn’t a flavor I don’t enjoy!) Pair that with some cookies and you just described my perfect night! This looks so yummy <3
Sometimes simple is the way to go, and I imagine these two desserts would taste great together. Don’t the ice creams cost a fortune though?
Actually they were only $3.50 for the box at Walmart, so it was pretty reasonable 🙂
I haven”t tried that ice cream yet, I tend to not eat a lot of ice cream or sugary foods now. However, it looks really good & so do the cookies!
I’d happily indulge in both of those treats. I have GOT to find those ice cream bars stat!
