For those of you who don’t know, I live in South Carolina which was just hit by an ice storm that took out over 100,000 people’s power. Ours was included in this and we have only just got power back. I tell you this so that you know that I haven’t just been neglecting the blog, not blogging was one of the hardest parts of the power outage…well that and that cold! And before it’s asked, no we could not go and stay at a hotel/motel as their power was out as well.
Let’s jump into the reason for this post, it’s the third Tuesday of the month which means it’s time for another round of Literary Junkies. Lets jump on in with the questions for this month:
What are you reading right now? Tell us about it:
Right now I’m currently reading several books that I was sent to review, the one I’m about to finish is ‘Til I Find You by Greta Bondieumaitre:
“No one knows how bumpy the road to love is more than Tisha Cole. After years of excruciatingly embarrassing dates, the 25-year-old receptionist is ready to hand in her dating license, but her cynical cousin, Drew, will not let her. She knows that finding Mr. Right has always been Tisha’s ultimate goal in life and short of joining the search herself, Drew plans on doing whatever it is her power to help Tisha find him. When they cross paths with two best friends and a very sexy entrepreneur, there’s a slight change in plans.
Drew who has always been adamant about keeping her single status begins to doubt her immunity to Tisha’s lovesickness.
Tisha has hit the jackpot with not one but two perfect dates! Where next will her quest for love take her when she decides to upgrade her relationship — with both men!
Two not-so-sweet cousins, three not-so-honest men. With the many potholes and crossroads along the way, will Tisha ever reach her destination?”
The review for this will be on the blog February 24th!
What books are on your bedside table at the moment:
Honestly I don’t have a bedside table, I do keep my cellphone on the headboard though as we use it as an alarm clock. Currently loaded on that is the ‘Til I Find You Book, Shakespeare’s Complete Works, Jane Eyre, and the Hunger Games Trilogy.
Amazon Released the 100 Books to Read in a Lifetime, what would you add:
I would add two books to that list, The Crucible by Arthur Miller and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. I feel that everyone should read these two books at some point in their lives. The Crucible was written during the McCarthy trials and Miller used the guise of the Salem Witch Trials as a metaphor for what was going on in Hollywood at the time. It is a play that focuses on two dark periods in our history. Jane Eyre is just a darn good book!
Are there any books being published in 2014 that you are anxiously awaiting?
Not really. I am however, looking forward to a movie based on a book. Mockingjay Part 1 comes out November 21st and this girl will be seeing it opening day!
Name the next 3 books in your To Be Read List:
The next three books on my To Be Read List are Soul Control, Fog City, and A Place at the Table. All three of which are being read for reviews for the blog!
I don’t have time to read normally. The only time I do read is during the summer when I am at the beach. I don’t know why, but I don’t like reading at home. Weird, huh?
I know a lot of people that are like that. I’m actually the opposite, I really only like to read at home and I hate reading in public 😉
I’m horrible. But I feel like I have no time to enjoy reading. I am lucky to get through a blog post without a booger being brought to me or spitup going down my shirt! But I am anxious for some movies this year…
I hope you weren’t in the N. Augusta/Aiken side. Some people didn’t have power for a WEEK! Glad to hear you are thawed out.
…I actually live 45 minutes to the right of Aiken so we were right in the middle of all the power outages. We lost power on Tuesday and only just got it back permanently yesterday. The guy across the highway from us still doesn’t have power!
Some of NC lost power too, but luckily we had ours the whole time. Glad you have yours back. Right now I’m reading my Bible of course, nothing in particular just verses related to my most current Bible Study and also reading 7 Secrets to a Successful Family.
So glad you didn’t loose power, I wouldn’t wish that experience on my worst enemy. I need to catch up on my bible study, we were doing 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus. What are you studying?
I so agree where are the Brontes. my sophomore year in high school I wrote a paper how the crucible effected literature. I used the McCarthy trials.
Oh how I wish I had time to read! These sound like great books.
Oh, it sounds spicy! And I’m not talking recipes. 😉 Thank you for sharing the review of the book!
I’m glad you got your power back!!
My book isn’t up there for anticipated 2014 releases?! I’m kidding, but I’m totally read for the Mockingjay movie too! Are you on goodreads?
I’m so use to it being “next summer” from last year that I’m still thinking “next summer” LOL. I’m getting yours the day it goes on Amazon for sure!
Oooo – a few more books to add to my to read list!
Great answers.
Til I find you sounds good. I’m going to add it to my list of to read but don’t let me forget to come back and read your review. I have been on a hunt for good books. I keep starting a bunch that aren’t doing it for me. :/ I’m currently reading Cross My Heart by Abigail Strom. So far so good on that one. A good one that I recently read though was Making Faces by Amy Harmon, it was really good.
I have been reading a lot of blogging books lately to improve my blog. I also recently read The Fault in Our Stars, which I just loved.
I love to read, though I haven’t had as much opportunity lately as I would like. My daughter and I are looking forward to Mockingjay this year as well as Divergent in theaters.
Yikes! I didn’t know SC had been hit so hard. Glad your house is okay.
Who do you do your reviews through? The one you’re doing now sounds good!
I just wrapped up the Maze Runner trilogy yesterday, and can’t wait for the movies to come out. My next selection will be a self published book my neighbor just wrote called 97.
I’m up in North Carolina, so we also got nailed with that storm! Yuck! I just got into Mindy Kaling’s book and I’m patiently waiting for Jane Green’s next book to come out next month. 🙂
I always tell myself I need to dedicate more time to reading then I never do. The problem is, I LOVE to read once I’m actually sitting down and doing it!
Oh no! Only bloggers know how terrible a power outage would be. I just finished reading Gone Girl. So quirky and dark. Loved it!
Ugh I am so sorry that you lost your power! I’m not reading anything right now, I’ve been so busy lately! 🙁
I’m currently reading a few different books on productivity. I know it sounds quite boring, but since I have a husband, 4 kids, a full time job, and a few blogs, the more productive I am, the happier we all are!
I cannot wait for Mockingjay, though I’m a little bummed it’s in two parts. I’m anxiously awaiting the release of The One, the final book in The Selection trilogy.
I have had little time to read lately, since I just had our second child in December. I do have a ton of books on my Kindle waiting for me though. I want to read Nicholas Sparks’ latest soon!
The only books in my current reading lost are kid’s books! I do have the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and some James Patterson ones to read….some day!
You poor thing! I can’t imagine being without power that long! I’m currently reading The Help again.
I can’t wait for Divergent to come to theaters!! I’m currently reading Where We Belong.
I have struggled with finding time to read lately. Being able to read on my phone or tablet (verses lugging around a book) has definitely made it easier. I’m looking forward to carving out some time this summer when our schedule slows down a bit and really plowing through a few.
I’ve just read the 50 shades of grey series, then crossfire. next i’m rereading anne of green gables. my eyes need some g material for a bit
I’m not really a reader but I am definitely looking forward to Mocking Jay!
Sorry about all the weather issues 🙁
I’m pretty surprised Jane Eyre wasn’t on that list, too. And Tale of Two Cities was left off as well.
I read The Crucible in high school & loved it. I’m excited for Mockingjay, too!
The book you’re reading sounds pretty interesting actually. I want to read The Goldfinch next!
Man, I needed a few new books to read…..I’ve been meaning to check out Amazon’s list!
I consider myself a written-word junkie, everything from books to magazines to online news articles. I love to red and end up buying tons of stuff off eBay from book recommendations. I’m also dying to see the third installment of the Hunger Games series! I didn’t read any of the books, but both movies were awesome!
I hate the thought of losing power anytime! I’m not currently reading anything, but the first book looks like one that should go on my list!
These books sound great. I want to read 24 books this year…it’s a small goal! I tried to get through 12 last year but with a newborn I couldn’t swing it.
I have several books that I have to read and review; mostly non-fiction and most wont be out for a while. I hope you’re doing okay. We had snowstorm in NY but yours looks pretty bad.
I use to love to read. I would read anything I could get from Dean Koontz, Robin Cook and Piers Anthony. These days I just do have the time.
Oh my gosh this book looks right up my alley and I can’t wait to read the review. I’ll keep it on my “wish list” until I see what you have to say.
I wish I could find time to read. I have about 50 on my kindle I’d love to get to.
Till I Find You sounds like a good one! Look forward to your review! Thanks for linking up!
Oh the crucible…how I remember that book. lol
