DIY Pumpkin Face Scrub

Today there are eight ladies who are hosting a Fall Fancy Linkup. I decided to do another Fall themed post so that I could linkup with them.

My fall themed post is a DIY Pumpkin Face Scrub. I previously guest posted on Heather’s blog, Hezzi-D’s Books and Cooks, with a Pumpkin Face Mask and I really enjoyed how it felt on my skin. I thought if I could take that same base and add a bit of grit to it that it would make a great face scrub. Boy was I right!

The first thing you are going to want to do is put some pumpkin into a bowl. This pumpkin can be either fresh or canned. I personally used the canned pumpkin and it still felt wonderful.

Next you are going to want to add your other ingredients to your base. Now you can change these items up a little based on what you think will benefit your skin the best. For mine I added nutmeg (reduces pores and helps with acne scars), cinnamon (helps reduce redness), olive oil (a natural moisturizer that’s good for all skin types), and of course the pumpkin (helps hydrate and fight acne).

After you get those mixed up add in your brown sugar. I chose brown sugar over just regular white sugar first because it smells better, second because it’s gentler and therefore better for sensitive skin, third it helps prevent further breakouts, and lastly it cleans really really well.

Once done with mixing your scrub together really well, wet your face and rub the scrub all over. Now be warned that this will get messy…very very messy. It’ll be worth it in the end though. After you rub this all over the face for about 30 seconds remove with warm water and towel dry.

Your skin will not only look good afterward but feel good as well. This is a great scrub to use once a week and it’s economical enough that you can make it that often without breaking the bank. Just make sure to store the leftover pumpkin in the fridge until the next go round. I’ve heard that some people will freeze the leftover pumpkin until the day before their next mask so that one can will get them two scrubs. This is up to you if you want to try that.

DIY Pumpkin Face Scrub

Ingredients:

1/4 cup of Pumpkin

1/4 tsp of Nutmeg

1/4 tsp of Cinnamon

1/2 tsp of Olive Oil

1/4 – 1/2 cup of Brown Sugar

Directions:

1. Add your pumpkin to a bowl

2. With a rubber spatula or spoon mix in the nutmeg, cinnamon, and oil to the pumpkin

3. Add the brown sugar to your mix, the amount depends on how rough of a scrub you would like

4. Wet face and apply scrub to your face rubbing for 30 seconds

5. Remove with warm water, pat dry

Have you ever made your own face mask or scrub?
