CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara Review

Yesterday for my WIWW post I posted one of my favorite makeup looks to date. For some reason that day all the makeup just came together and looked gorgeous with hardly any effort. That particular look also had one of my favorite drug store mascara’s to date, which is why I’m doing this CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara Review.

To start out with I got the black formula. While I do have bright mascaras and brown ones as well, when it comes to my everyday mascara I prefer a deep black formula. I usually prefer a waterproof formula opposed to a non-waterproof but I couldn’t find one so I had to go with the regular formula.

I love the packaging for the Flamed Out mascara, it’s just gorgeous. It’s a bright orange tube with fuchsia tendrils all over the tube. This is one of the first times that the tube of mascara actually embodies the name of it. I could probably be talked into giving this a perfect score from just the packaging alone.

Now obviously there has to be a reason that it’s called “Flamed Out” besides it’s packaging. It’s called “Flamed Out” because the edges flare out more than the middle part. The way that this is accomplished with the “Flamed Out” mascara is with the very unique wand. The wand is bulbous on either end and slim in the middle. I loved the wand it wasn’t to big or bulky to use.

NOTE: I apologize for the crazy eyed look, it was hard to focus on the lens of the camera without my glasses on. The lashes on the left side of the picture are the ones with CoverGirl’s Flamed Out Mascara and the ones on the right are without any mascara. As you can see the lashes look darker and fuller, especially on the outer edges. The only thing that this mascara does not do is add length but it isn’t advertised to.

Here is a look of the two eyes shut. Again the mascara is on the left eye and the right eye is bare. I had no problems with the mascara flaking or running. I also rubbed my eyes a few times during the day accidentally and it didn’t smear like a raccoon. Speaking of accidentally rubbing my eyes, I did that because this formula was so light that I didn’t even realize I was wearing it most of the time. It didn’t make my lashes feel heavy at all.

I use a black mascara on a daily basis too but I haven’t tried this. I’m going to pick it up next time I need new mascara. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, no mascara can do this for me. My lashes have to be curled no matter what. They go strait down. Hate it

It adds color for sure, but it seems to leave such a light application that I’d rather stick with the cover girl purple tube – length, color and curl. More bang for your buck.

I am definitely a dark as dark black gets for mascara too. And I HATE when mascara flakes, so I’m glad to hear this one doesn’t! Flaky mascara gives me itchy eyes. I’m tempted to try this but I find it hard to stray from perfection (aka Falsies mascara, haha)

Wow, the CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara really made a difference. I have very long eyelashes so I usually skip the mascara. It usually ends up on the inside of my eyeglasses!

I always choose a deep black mascara color too, but I tend to go non-waterproof because I can’t stand trying to get waterproof mascara off! Anyhow, this really does a nice application and I can totally tell the difference.

As a contact lens wearer, I love that the CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara doesn’t add length, personally. The lengthening ones always seem to deposit little chunks on my contacts – ugh!

This mascara looks like a great stocking stuffer for my sisters as their lashes could use a little help. Love the before and after pics to really get a sense of what it can do.

I am a black mascara wearing girl thru and thru. I’ve tried brown and brown black and I’ve never ever been happy. So it’s my trusty black mascara that I reach for in the morning! Thanks for the review!

I have tried tons of different mascaras in the past. I much prefer the cheaper ones over expensive. Why spend all the expense when the formulas are basically the same. I like Covergirl the best!
