For those who don’t know what Julep is, Julep is a monthly nail/beauty subscription service. Each month, depending on your profile, you will either get two beauty products, two nail polishes and a beauty product, or three nail polishes. Also, each month between the 20th and 24th you can preview what all the options are and switch to a different box or skip for that month. If you choose to get a box it will cost you $19.99 for the month. The polishes for each month revolve around a theme and this month’s theme was Rebel. If you would like to signup for Julep click here, if you would like to know more bout how Julep works click here. As always if you decide to signup you can add the code FREEBOX at checkout to get your intro box for just the cost of shipping!
October’s Unboxing Video
October’s Box
As I previously mentioned this months theme was Rebel, although that was a bit confusing because if you got the selection window email there was stuff on there about gears and revealing your other side but the actual theme was Rebel, with the moto for this month being “A Collection to Light Up Your Dark Side.” The two beauty products for this month were a Noir Face mask and an eyeliner pencil, the latter of which was the beauty product in the three boxes that get two polishes and a beauty product.
As there are no beauty products in the picture you can probably tell that I decided to go with the It Girl selection and three add-ons for my selection this month. I actually waffled quite a bit on this decision as there were quite a few boxes that I liked this month.
October It Girl
At first I was a bit iffy on this box because of how the colors looked online but let me tell you these colors are much more gorgeous in person than they were online. On top of that they are just spectacular in the sunlight. I was originally just going to take these pictures in the house but when I saw them in the sunlight as I was bringing them in the house I knew that only an outside photoshoot would do them justice.
Lets start with the fact that I don’t know who Julep gets to write the color descriptions for their polishes but sometimes I think they sampled to much of the “Special Brownies” before sitting down to write the descriptions. Ciara’s description is a perfect example of that a “vampy magenta with teal microglitter.” Really? Vampy magenta? Is that even a shade description? I’ve heard of a vampy look but vampy magenta? Have y’all heard of that as a descriptor? Not that I’m saying that it’s a bad description or that it’s off it’s mark I just busted out laughing when I heard it. Ciara though truly is a gorgeous color and is the sole reason that I chose the It Girl box over the others. I knew that Ciara was going to be gorgeous in person and she did not disappoint.
Kendra is the polish that I was most iffy about when I chose the It Girl box over the others. Kendra is listed as an army green frost polish and online it just looked like baby food. In person though this color is gorgeous and as an Army Wives fan a color I could totally see myself rocking.
Missy is a titanium metallic that, if I’m being honest, looked really flat online. In person, however, this polish is gorgeous and shines from all sides. I can’t wait to find a use for this polish.
October Add-Ons
I love add-on they are one of my favorite parts about the monthly subscription. They allow you to add-on other polishes, the beauty products, or other Julep products that have been randomly thrown in for a super low price compared to the normal retail price. Normally a new Julep polish is $14/non-maven or $11.20/maven but during the selection window they are $4.99 each and you can add-on up to three.
Valerie, a teal with microglitter, was the polish that I loved the most this month. As soon as I saw it in the selection window I knew that it was going to be coming to my house. The only problem that I had with Valerie was the fact that she was partnered with Cleopatra which is Julep’s Latex polish. At the time Julep did not have an ingredient list available for Cleopatra and as I’m allergic to latex I could not take the chance of ordering it and coming into contact with the polish. Thank goodness for the add-on program! Valerie came from the Bombshell box.
I got Anisa, which is described as a deep burgundy polish, because I loved the look of it. I think this will be a great fall and Christmas polish. Anisa came from the Classic with a Twist box.
The last polish that I received is perfect for Halloween and it is Casper a glow-in-the-dark polish. I actually have a tutorial planned for this polish in the very near future so be sure to come back and check that out. Casper was a featured add-on this month and not in any of the boxes, however, Julep considers it an It Girl polish.
I actually really like Missy! But, I like them all. Thanks for linking up to Less Laundry, More Linking.
