I don’t know if Travis is going to be participating to often in the “My Favorites” series (you guys should leave us a comment down below or on the Facebook page telling him how you want to see some of his favorites too).
Therefore, just in time for Valentine’s Day, I’m going to give you My Top 5 Favorite Romance Movies.
Number 5
This one comes in at number five only because it’s a Christmas movie and a certain someone (coughTRAVIScough) doesn’t particularly like to hear Christmas songs or movies other than during December. This movie is one of those that I can persuade him to watch outside of the month of December but it just makes me want to listen to other Christmas songs and want snow so I just leave well enough alone.
Number 4
Sweet November is a romance movie that I love simply because there is no happy ending to this movie. Once you get past Keanu’s wooden acting (and if you’ve ever seen a Keanu movie you should be use to it at this point) the story is great. Nelson starts out as a douche bag who blames Sara for him failing his driving test. He winds up staying around here for the month but she warns him that he is not to fall in love with her. Which we all know as soon as she says it that he’s going to do that exact thing. Of course the writers do not disappoint and he does stay with her, however, at the end of the month she disappears and there is no happy ending. The movie is cute throughout the relationship and the end truly will bring a tear to your eyes.
Number 3
I swear my taste in movies usually isn’t this horrible, I just don’t tend to like the typical box office selling romances. Angel Eyes is another one that kind of fits into that not-typical romance movie category. What I love about this movie is the twist that winds-up coming out, while I did see it coming fairly early on I was still on pins and needles as to what it would do to the budding relationship between Sharon and Chase.
Number 2
Everyone knows about Days of Thunder in 1990 starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, they also know about the 1999 movie Eyes Wide Shut starring the same two. People usually remember Days of Thunder because that was the start of their relationship and it was only two years after Eyes Wide Shut came out that they shockingly divorced. What people tend to forget though is that in between those two movies, specifically in 1992, they had another movie come out titled Far and Away. I LOVE everything about this movie; the storyline is great, the acting is great, the relationship that starts out as sour and almost a hostile hatred slowly becomes a friendship and than a love that causes each to give-up things for each other.
Number 1
Those of you who know wouldn’t be shocked to see that this is my number one choice. Before anything is said, I did say that I don’t TYPICALLY like box office selling romances. This is one of those instances that I love the box office selling romance, as a matter of fact I probably was a big a part to the box office sellingness. In my defense I will say that not only is the story good and the acting great but it is about the Titanic and for some reason I’ve just always loved the history dealing with the Titanic. I currently have the blu-ray collector’s edition of this sitting on the movie shelf and a huge framed poster on the wall next to the couch in the living room. Words can not express how much love I have for this movie.
