I totally just found out from another blog I follow that Megan over at Semi-Charmed Kind of Life is having a reading challenge for the winter. I’m super excited about this because not only will it give me things to post about on Literary Monday but it will help introduce me to books that I probably never would have tried.
If you guys want to blog along you can go here to sign-up in the linky and see the rules and points in her words:
http://megancstroup.blogspot.com/2012/10/semi-charmed-winter-2012-book-challenge.html
Now here are the rules and how the points are layed out in my own words. Since I just found out about this like literally (Ha!) five minutes ago I don’t know what books I’m going to be reading for each one, but if anything just jumps out at me I’m going to put it in.
Rules:
1. Books must be read fro 12:01 am November 1st, 2012 – 11:59 pm on January 31st, 2013. No books before or after will give you any points.
2. Books must all be new reads unless a prompt says that it can be a reread.
3. No books under 200 pages.
4. You can use audio and digital books as long as in print format they adhere to all other rules.
5. While you can choose to rearrange books to fit in a different category, only one category will be useable for each book.
Points:
1. 5 points: Read a book written by an author you have never read before.
2. 5 points: Read a book that you have in your possession (can be on a reader, borrowed, owned, etc.) that you have not read yet.
3. 10 points: Read a book that was written in the decade you were born.
4. 10 points: Read a book that is set in the state you were BORN in.
5. 15 points: Read a book titled The _____’s Daughter or The ______’s Wife
6. 15 points: Read a book that is translated into English that was originally written in a different language
7. 20 points: Read a book with a number in the title (can be digit or spelled out i.e. thousand or 8)
8. 20 points: Read a book set during a winter holiday
9. 20 points: Read a book written by an author who has the same initials as you
10. 25 points: Read a Pulitzer Prize Winner (or Finalist) for fiction
11. 25 points: Re-read any book (does not have to be one from this list)
12. 30 points: Read three books from separate genres
I wish that I had a button to use for this but Megan didn’t have a code to grab her button. Also, I’ll probably be posting another post here shortly about what books I’m going to using in which categories.
If you’re not a blogger and want to do this along with me just leave a comment telling me which books you are going to be reading for each category.
That’s cool! I wish I could participate in this reading challenge. Currently really busy =(
Love your blog. Ventured over here from a friend’s blog. Cheers!

She also does one during the summer as well. I’m going to try to participate in that one as well 🙂
I think I am going to join up! Thanks for the heads up! 🙂
Thanks for joining my challenge! I made a button for the challenge (it’s at the bottom of this post: http://megancstroup.blogspot.com/2012/10/blogger-book-swap.html), and I’ll add it to the main post so other people can find it! Good luck. 🙂
