Sunday Social: Halloween Edition

I love this time of the year. It’s almost Halloween, Thanksgiving is around the corner, and not to far down the road is Christmas. All come complete with cool weather, gorgeous decorations, and scrumptious food. Especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, but today we’re going to focus on Halloween as that is the topic for this week’s Sunday Social.

You guys might remember, but for those who are new and those who don’t remember Sunday Social is a link-up hosted by Neely, who blogs over at A Complete Waste of Makeup, and Ashley, who blogs over at Ashleys Carnival Ride. I love the idea of this link-up and am going to try and participate on a weekly basis.

Sonnie, Me, Travis

This week’s questions:

Favorite Costume as a kid
My favorite costume as a kid would have to be the gypsy costume. I wore that costume for a couple of years, the first time I wore it was our last Halloween in Indiana before we moved to Texas. It was a great Halloween and since I was a pre-teen the costume made me look a little bit like Esmeralda. The next time that I wore the outfit was a several years later when I was about 14 and it was my first “sexy” costume. The fact that the costume had memories from childhood and was able to transition with me into that adult phase was awesome.

Go Back and dress-up

If I could go back and dress-up as anyone that I wanted I would have to say that I would want to go back and be Belle from Beauty and the Beast and I would want to dress-up as a “Southern Belle” with the big hoop skirts, bonnet, and umbrella.

Favorite Adult Costume

My favorite costume as an adult is one that Travis and I came up with for this year. We didn’t get to do it because we didn’t have anywhere really to go for Halloween, I’m hoping that we’ll get to use it in the future though. The costume was a couple’s costume with him being the Joker from Batman the Animated Series and me being Harley Quinn from the same.

Favorite Halloween Candy

My favorite Halloween Candy isn’t really a Halloween candy so much as it’s a bite size version of a normal candy. I love the bite size Heath Bars, that only seem to come out during Halloween. However, one fall snack that I am a sucker for every year is candy apples.

Favorite Halloween Memory

My favorite Halloween memory is actually the Halloween from last year when my sister was still living with us. Travis, me, and her all dressed-up and went to the drive-in for a trick-or-treat.

Travis, Me, Sonnie

We wound up getting bad service and having to deal with bad kids that couldn’t seem to follow rules so we wound up leaving before the movie. However, we went to Denny’s and hung-out and had a good time. Hey Sis, remind me was this the time we had to go off on the waitress for being a…well you know, or was that another time?

Favorite Scary Movie

I don’t know about everyone else reading this but as soon as I read this I squeeeed. For those of you who don’t know what “squeeeeing” is, it’s that act where a grown adult (usually female) gets super excited about something and proceeds to make a screeching sound, while bouncing up and down, and clapping their hands. Anywhoozle, I squeeeed because this instantly reminded me of Scream, which is hands-down one of my favorite scary movies of all time. Travis, me, and my sister went and saw Scream 4 when it came to theaters and at one point I called her (yes we were in the theater watching the movie and yes she was sitting one row ahead of us) and dropped my voice real low and went:

“What’s your favorite scary movie”

just like they do in the movie. I know, I’m a dork. Some of my other favorite movies are the older Nightmare on Elm Streets, the older Halloween’s, the older Friday the 13ths, Dr. Giggles (just for you Sis), and Candyman. I should say that I don’t find ANY of these scary.

Here’s some more photo’s from last Halloween. By the way Sonnie came up with the idea for her costume on her own, made it, and did her own make-up, Travis came up with his costume but Sonnie added the make-up, I came up with my own costume and did my own make-up.
