HOORAY it’s our first co-post! I’m sooooo happy, LOL.
Note: We realize that some parts of this recap do not mesh with the chronological order of the events of the actual episode. It was decided that the individual storylines would be separated and discussed in full instead of doing a straight review of the episode and jumbling how each story plays out. This was done to avoid confusion.
“Hopeless” picks up exactly where episode 5 left off, with Alcide being dragged off by a wolf and Russell going after Sookie. Bill and Eric rush to help Alcide before realizing that Russell is after Sookie, however, you shouldn’t worry because Sook can hold her own with those fairy hands of hers. Once Bill and Eric realize that Russell is after Sookie they both race to her side, albeit for different reasons; Eric rushes to kill Russell while Bill rushes to stop Eric from killing Russell. Eric just keeps from killing Russell when members of the Authority come in to arrest Russell. There is one problem though: There’s a wolf and several humans who now know everything that has happened and they just can’t be allowed to walk around remembering all of this. Eric and Bill intervene on behalf of Alcide and Sookie with the suggestion that since they were “kidnapped” so that Eric and Bill could get to Russell they should be allowed to just be glamored. Now here is where a big difference comes in. Bill chooses to glamor Sookie, which we know can’t be done, while Eric glamors Alcide. Bill’s glamoring of Sookie is very sad and almost feels like his goodbye to her. Eric’s glamor on the other hand is quite hilarious as he tells Alcide “You will keep your hands off her [Sookie] romantically speaking. She disgusts you.” Bill and Eric are loaded into a van to be taken back to the Authority Headquarters while Alcide and Sookie are allowed to go free.
Cassie’s Thoughts:
You can start to see in these scenes that Sookie is getting in over her head with the vampires and that Eric is starting to get ticked with the Vampire Authority. I don’t know if either Bill or Eric suspect Salome as being the traitor but I sure do
Travis’s Thoughts:
Alexander Skarsgard continues to show why he was the perfect choice for Eric. His delivery is spot on in this scene. Moyer also does an amazing job in what amounts to his goodbye to Sookie. He made you believe he expected to meet the true death.

“Lilith can f*cking blow me” – Eric
Eric and Bill arrive back at Authority Headquarters to the group of Authority Chancellors celebrating the capture of Russell. Where they find out that the Authority is questioning Russell instead of just killing him, both raise objections over this but ultimately have to go along with what the Authority wants. After a tense discussion between Eric and Roman in which Eric does not fully back the Coexististence movement he is allowed to see Nora, once he reveals that she is his sister. Russell is brought from the back and is put down on his knees and after telling Roman “I want to gorge on human blood. Not because some f*cking Bible tells me to, but because I like it. It’s fun. It makes my d*ck hard.” he grabs a stake and kills the head of the vampire Authority, leaving the rest of the room speechless.
Cassie’s Thoughts
At this point I really really really think Salome has been the one behind everything. However, I don’t think she did it because she’s a Sangunista, I think she just craves the power.
Travis’s Thoughts
What can you say about this episode, and probably the rest of the season, other than Russell Edgington OWNS IT. I was excited at the end of season four knowing that he would return and now we are finally beginning to see the payoff. He honestly steals every scene he is in.

“Peace is for p**sies” – Russell
Back in Alcide’s van he wonders how where they are and how they got there as Sookie balls her eyes out. Alcide later wakes up in Sookie’s bed without remembering how he got there. Sookie kind of hedges around telling him the truth but in the end decides to show him what he missed out on. When he recoils from her touch she delivers the line of “F*cking Eric” which brings a comedic touch to her otherwise sad state. After remembering the wolves attacking him and that they were back on V, Alcide heads out to confront the new leader of the Shreveport pack. When he gets there he finds out that the new leader is JD, who is cheating on his mate with a young wolf, and he challenges him. JD tries to weasel out of it by mentioning that Alcide doesn’t have a second, however, a new character Rikki steps-up and agrees to be his second.
Cassie’s Thoughts
I’m assuming that they’re going to make Rikki into the Jannalynn character from the last few Sookie Stackhouse books. If they do her the way she is in the books, along with the most recent one, it’ll be a great little story arc.
Travis’s Thoughts
While I agree that Rikki is probably going to be the Jannalynn character, I believe she is also supposed to be a straight forward love interest for Alcide; a role that Jannalynn did not play in the books.

Pink is soooo his color 😉
While we’re on the subject of JD’s mate, Martha, it might be a good time to mention that she’s the mother of Luna’s ex. When Sam and Luna were shot at the end of the last episode Sam hollered at Emma to run. Emma shifted into a wolf and ran straight to her grandmother’s house. Sam and Luna survive their gunshots and just as Sam’s about to leave the hospital to go looking for Emma, Martha brings her back. After a bit of conversing Luna agrees to allow Martha to have a relationship with Emma on the condition that she protects her while they hunt the people killing shifters. Sam uses this time to go and have a discussion with Andy in which he convinces Andy to let him help find the people doing this. They wind up at the Vampire Hating Store {I’m sure this place has an actual name but damned if I can remember it, LOL} where Sam winds up saving Andy’s life.
Cassie’s Thoughts
Right now I feel sorry for Martha. She’s being punished for her son’s mistakes. However, I know as soon as I say that they’ll wind up making her horrible and she’ll wind-up kidnapping Emma or something.
Travis’s Thoughts
I think Martha has motives beyond wanting to be a grandmother to Emma that will be revealed by season’s end. Also, Andy and Sam together just has a great “buddy cop” vibe to it.

Andy right before Sam saves his life
Moving back to Sookie, she winds up going to work until Jason shows up and tells her that vampires killed their parents. When he tells her that Hadley is hanging with Fairy’s with their nephew she lights out to go find them. They wind up in a clearing and when Sookie just disappears Jason yells to absolutely nothing “That’s my f*cking sister” when Sookie reaches back and out and pulls him into the club. We’re to assume that they are now in Hooligans, which is owned by Claude, and after a bit of a back and forth between Sookie and Claude she lashes out with her Fairy Hands only to find they don’t work. We see several fairy’s around the room turn and shoot beams of light at Sookie, and that’s the end of their segment for the week.
Cassie’s Thoughts
It’ll be interesting to see what they do with Claude now, especially with how the last book ended
Travis’s Thoughts
This is the biggest sticking point for the entire series for me. I have not liked how the fairies have been handled at all. I hope it gets better by the end of this season, but I have my doubts. They are playing Claude way to friendly. He is supposed to be arrogant and conceited. Hopefully the friendly demeanor is just an act.

THATS beautiful?
Meanwhile at Fangtasia, the fight between Jessica and Tara has spilled out into the bar from the bathroom. Both girls are throwing each other and breaking furniture, Pam watches from the stage until Tara makes a comment about Fangtasia being “her house.” This displeases Pam so she pulls Tara into the storage room to put her in her place. At first it doesn’t seem this way because Pam tells her that she is proud of her but she follows it up with “the way a human is proud of a well-trained dog” and she walks off. Jessica has her own little scene with Hoyt which ends with her running off after Hoyt mentions glamoring him and doing whatever she wants to him, as long as it’s with him. We later see Hoyt in a back alley letting some random vampire feed off him, when the vampire mentions that Hoyt is about to die he just shrugs it off and the vampire continues. The same group of people that shot Luna and Sam pull up, kill the vampire, and take Hoyt essentially saving his life.
Cassie’s Thoughts
Jessica just needs to get up off of it and go back to Hoyt, we know he loves her and she loves him she’s just wanting to sow some oats. All she’s going to wind-up doing though is killing the boy.
Travis’s Thoughts
Jessica should be with Jason and she should just kill the boy, lol.

Hoyt as a Fangbanger cracks me up
Back in Bon Temps, Terry has arrived at Merlotte’s back from his trip with “Sergent.” People who watched the last episode know that the only other remaining member of their squad was killed in a fire and they, being the last two, are running for their lives. Terry has stopped by to essentially tell Arlene that he can’t stay with her for her own safety. He thanks her for taking a chance on him and leaves.
Cassie’s Thoughts
I can’t wait until Arlene wakes up and smells the coffee. I hated this character in the books and I semi hate her in the show. She spent the entire conversation with Terry accusing him of being crazy even though she saw a ghost with her own eyes in the last season.
Travis’s Thoughts
I don’t have much to say here other than I don’t like Arlene, so I wanted to see Terry get away from her. Terry is an awesome character. One of the changes from the book series that I like the best.

She’s the one that needs to take the crazy pills
Lafayette has been going through some tough times since Jesus died, in the last episode Jesus head appearing to him didn’t make it any better. However, we all remember that Jesus didn’t just appear to Lafayette he also appeared to Ruby Jean. Lafayette goes to see her and she tells him that he’s in trouble and it’s the goat blood man’s fault. She then reveals to Lafayette that she has a type of second sight, on and that God loves LaLa
Cassie’s Thoughts
This scene was actually great, I love the actress that plays Ruby and I love that they kept Lafayette in the show so the interaction between the two is great. Her referring to him as LaLa is just the icing on the cake.
Travis’s Thoughts
I am really interested to see where this story goes. Lafayette is just awesome beyond words. The interaction with Ruby Jean was sweet and hilarious at the same time.

LaLa is my new name for him 😉
