New Year’s Mani: Big Apple Champagne

A New Year's Mani themed after the Big Apple and Champagne. Big Apple Champagne uses a classic red shade, Zoya Sooki, and a gold sparkle shade, Zoya Pixie Dust Bar. #newyearseve #newyears #mani #nails #notd #nailart #nailtutorial #zoya #zoyasooki #zoyabar

New Year’s Eve is in a few days and I don’t know about you but I’m excited to ring in a new year. I have so many plans and goals for the blog and my YouTube channel, some of which I’ve already started implementing, that I can’t wait to share with you. I’m so excited about New Year’s that I came up a New Year’s Mani just for you! Big Apple Champagne is the theme I went with and I chose this because usually when you think of New Year’s Eve you think of drinking champagne and watching the ball drop in NYC (which is known as the Big Apple). I thought it was super cute and this New Year’s Mani turned out pretty gorgeous in my opinion.

The New Year's Mani Big Apple Champagne uses Zoya Sooki and Zoya Pixie Dust Bar to achieve the look. #newyearseve #newyears #mani #nails #notd #nailart #nailtutorial #zoya #zoyasooki #zoyabar

The look that I wanted to go with for this New Year’s Mani was with a classic red and a gold shade. I was looking at Zoya and decided to place an order for Sooki and Bar.

Sooki is a creme polish in the classic red shade that I was looking for. The above picture shows Sooki with just one coat. One coat could be doable, however, it is a bit patchy and streaky.

The above picture here is two coats of Sooki and as you can see it really evens out and gets that nice glossy look with that second coat. If you’re only planning on wearing this for just New Year’s then you could probably leave Sooki at just the second coat and leave off the top coat.

Bar is part of Zoya’s Magical Pixie Dust line and it is more than I could have asked for with this look. When I was planning this New Year’s Mani I was originally thinking of just a flat gold shade but when I saw Bar I was intrigued, however, when I started applying it I was shocked. Bar is absolutely stunning. The above picture is with one coat.

The only problem with Bar is that it really needs two coats to hit it’s absolute effectiveness. That being said, Bar dries super fast so it’s was super easy to apply the first coat, wait like a minute and then apply the second coat.

Now you can stop right there and have a pretty nice looking New Year’s Mani that’s still Big Apple Champagne themed. You still the classic red on most of the nails but you only have that one pop of gold color. However, if you have a bit of time to go through with the next step it will really make your New Year’s Mani pop.

To finish up the New Year’s Mani I took Bar and using the very end of the brush I applied it to the tips of my other nails. I didn’t pull off any of Sooki to do this, I just applied Bar right on top. I also applied two coats of Bar for this step as well.

As you can see applying Bar to the tips gives it a bit of a 3D effect which helps this New Year’s Mani pop. I think it really embodies the Big Apple Champagne theme that I was going for. Hopefully you enjoy this New Year’s Mani as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Make sure to drive safely and have a Happy New Year!

That manicure looks so great! I love the touch of sparkles for NYE. I don’t think I’m really celebrating- staying at home with my hubby- so I probably won’t get dressed up at all!

i’m not too sure if I can pull off the red like that but I sure do love the red and gold together. Maybe it’s time that I start trying some fun new ideas like this.

I love Zoya nail polish because it does not contain harmful chemicals but only organic stuff. Sadly the brand is not available here in our local market. I will try ordering also from online shops. That Sooki with reddish color looks great!

I love those colours! That would have been great for Christmas too, with the red and gold together. When I think of the New Year, I always think of black and silver together. Would love to see if you end up doing one of those!

I can’t paint my nails well at all and have ended up going with Jamberry, as I find it a bit easier and I’m a lot less likely to pick them 😛 I’ve done a review on those but I’m going to get into polish soon myself- there’s just so much variety! I’ve started putting a bit of Vaseline around the edges of my fingers, in order to prevent the run when I paint them….otherwise it looks like my toddler did mine LOL
