The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Mint Chocolate came in a set with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Sweet Candy. I reviewed the Sweet Candy Lip Mask a little over a year ago, read that review here, but wanted to wait until I could actually use the Mint Chocolate to review it. The full-size Mint Chocolate Lip Mask has 0.7 oz. of products, comes in a good quality jar, has a screw-top lid, and retails for $20.00. While the Sweet Candy Lip Mask is currently still available, the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask is no longer available for purchase.

Laneige claims that their Lip Sleeping Mask absorbs into the lips quickly while protecting them. Laneige also claims that their lip mask helps retain the moisture in the lips. The ingredients for the Lip Sleeping Mask are:

As I stated earlier, the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask came in a duo set with the Sweet Candy Lip Mask. Due to this, one would think they would be identical with only the scent being different. This turned out not to be the case, and not for the benefit of the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask.

To start with, the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask is WAY more fragrant than the Sweet Candy Lip Mask. However, the fragrance does not smell as “good” as the Sweet Candy Lip Mask. Obviously, if you have an issue with fragrance you should stay away from both but if you have an issue with loud fragrances you should also stay away. In addition, the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask does not perform as well as the Sweet Candy Lip Mask does. This absorbed into the lips faster and did not seem to last as long as the Sweet Candy Lip Mask did.

Ultimately, the Mint Chocolate Lip Mask would be more of a waste for those who have “normal” condition lips than the Sweet Candy Lip Mask would have been. It would be okay for those with dry, chapped lips if they really, really love the scent of Mint Chocolate but honestly, there are better masks on the market, even in the Laneige brand, that I would recommend before this one. I would like to try other Laneige Lip Sleeping Masks to see which of these tends to be more true of the product.
